Spännande boktips på gång.

Dominikanernas kloster i Stockholm, svartbrödraklostret, var det tionde dominikanerkonventet i Sverige. När det grundades år 1336 var klosterordens storhetstid nästan förbi – men här hände det grejer. Det fanns nämligen en altarbild, en så kallad nådabild, som föreställde Jesu korsnedtagning. Vid den här altarbilden bad många människor om hjälp, vilket ledde till mirakel. Och inte vilka mirakel som helst.

I boken ”Broder Gregorius mirakler” får du följa med på en tidsresa tillbaka till 1400-talets Stockholm. Här berättar Broder Gregorius, en munk i svartbrödraklostret, med egna ord om 87 olika mirakler. När han insjuknade i pesten avlade han ett heligt löfte: om han skulle återfå hälsan, skulle han dela sina berättelser med världen. Och när pestens bölder till slt sprack, greppade han pennan och började skriva ner sina upplevelser. Texterna har bevarats genom århundradena och ger dig en unik inblick i den medeltida vardagen och tron.

I en helt ny utgåva har Medeltidsmuseets forskningsledare, professor Alexander Andrée, översatt den latinska texten till svenska och försett boken med en inledning och kommentarer som sätter berättelserna i sina historiska sammanhang.

Den 24 oktober kl 17.30–19.00 är du välkommen på boksläpp i Storkyrkan i Gamla stan där du får höra Alexander Andrée berätta om bearbetningen. Det är bara att komma förbi, ingen kostnad.

Morning wiev before a tour day. Magical!
A beautiful morning sky and the 3 gigantic man-made 6-7th c cremation grave mounds in in . In the excavated ones they found burnt bones, image carwed jewels from Constantinopel once set in rings, some of the the earliest example of certain birds of prey in as well as weapons, gaming pieces and what is now believed to be a scepter. The surrroundings, connected to these graves, holds an Assembly mound / early thing mound, two mighty longhouses and according to early mediveal written sources from 11th C a sacrifice site.

Viking grave mounds and two standing stones, male graves, and a female round grave marker. The round one was new find for me on this paticular tour gravefield so got really exited and happy over finding it.

Old runestone found again? They are trying to uncover a stone last seen 1926 reused as a steping stone into the church.

Checked out the recreated in UK this weekend, such a cool event. Meantime the tours go on in Sweden as usual so feel free to book and make enquiries.
The medieval knights where fiercly protective over their lands and loyalties sworn to an appointed leader.
Their weaponry and plate armour worth a lot if looted after a battle in a time where the battling nobles often got captured and ransomed. That however didn't happen at this battle leading to over 30 noble knights been slain in what was seen as an uprising against the king whom been captured at the Battle of Lewis prior to this battle.

One of 27 Ingvar stones shattered over Sweden telling "They died with Ingvar". They tells the story about Vikings trying to reopen the eastern trade route but failed, written down around 1200 by an Icelandic scholar connecting to an event mentioned on runestones like this in 1010-1050AD. These have all this a peculiar style of a snake seen from above whom helps date them.
If not for that scholar we would never know the full story, just have the runestones silent "He died with Ingvar", clearly enough for the people of that day knowing the story. Follow for more stories or comment.
