This indoor Hirome market in Kochi, Japan is also known as "Kochi's Kitchen" consists of around 65 stalls each selling unique foods and drinks as well as many large tables where one will always be able to spot locals dining and laughing together.

Even if you are a foreigner who doesn't know anyone in the prefecture, you will surely be treated as family and will find that people will sit with you for company.

Katsuo no tataki (Kochi's fire seared bonito fish), inaka sushi (country style sushi made from vegetables), and dry sake are must-tries for tourists.

Originating in Kochi, Japan, the Yosakoi Festival is a music and dance filled event adorning many streets in Japan every August from the 9th to 12th.

Teams perform in matching outfits with two handheld Naruko, wooden noise-making clappers, to songs that they have made their own but always contain elements of the traditional Yosakoi songs.

At the annual NATAS Travel Fair in Singapore this past weekend, Singapore's Yosakoi Seiran Matoi team performed in the opening ceremony and later again at JNTO Japan’s booth to spread awareness of this beautiful, culturally rich festival that is an important piece of Kochi's history.

Check out Visit Kochi Japan to learn more about Yosakoi and head to instagram and follow to stay updated on future performances of Singapore’s own local Yosakoi group!

Are you a fan of yuzu? If so, Kochi is the prefecture for you!

Kochi is the No.1 producer of Yuzu in Japan.

Although yuzu is commonly associated with Japan as a whole, Kochi boasts the largest production of the citrus in Japan, accounting for over 52% of the country's total yield every year!

Made possible by Kochi’s mountainous regions, cooler temperatures, and abundant forests, Kochi is the ideal cultivation environment. The primary yuzu field is 1,200x bigger than a soccer field!

Maybe you've spotted yuzu beverages in your local supermarket? This can be traced back to Kochi's longtime promotion in Singapore of its signature fruit in order to acquire more Singaporean fans.

Many people cannot get enough of yuzu's unique citrus flavor with the perfect combination of sweetness and a note of lime-like bitterness. If you haven't already, now's the time to try it for yourself!

The harvest season is November to December which is when one can find numerous yuzu products such as freshly squeezed juice at the Sunday Market in Kochi!

Let us know what you think about yuzu and come travel to Kochi to try it straight from the source 🍋
