Tashichho Dzong, ‘Fortress of the Glorious Religion’ or ‘Fortress of Auspicious Doctrine’, or popularly known as Thimphu Dzong, is an impressive structure that houses the throne room and offices of the king, the secretariat and the ministries of home affairs and finance. Other government offices are housed in the buildings nearby Tashichho Dzong. It’s been the seat of the Royal Government of Bhutan since 1962 after the capital moved to Thimphu from Punakha. #tashichhodzong #bhutan #travel #leisure #holiday

Beautiful Wangchuk bridge… The bridge, a graceful arc connecting realms, spans the lively river. Beneath, nature's masterpiece thrives: the river, a flowing melody, kisses the verdant banks where life dances in harmony. Together, they weave a tapestry of tranquility amid nature's bountiful embrace. #bridge #nature #river #hike #bhutan #jigmechuecotourism #chukha

It is hard to see such green/paddy cultivation in middle of the Thimphu, capital town and may be in any other countries…#town #greenzone #nature #carbonneutral #beauty #tashichhodzong #thimphu #bhutan

Memorial Stupa, Bhutan
Memorial Chorten, Thimphu
The Memorial Stupa, often referred to as Thimphu Chorten, is a stupa (in local term: Choeten) in Thimphu, Bhutan. It is situated on Doeboom Lam in the southern-central area of the city, close to the main roundabout and Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital. The stupa, which was erected in 1974 in memory of Jigme Dorji Wangchuck, the third Druk Gyalpo (1928–1972), is a well-known landmark in the city. It underwent substantial renovations in 2008. It is referred to as "the most prominent religious monument in Bhutan" in popular culture, consecrated by Dudjom Jigdral Yeshe Dorje.
In contrast to other stupas, this one does not contain any human remains. The only decoration in a ground-floor hall is a picture of the Druk Gyalpo wearing ceremonial attire. Jigme Dorji once stated that he wished to construct "a chorten to represent the thought of the Buddha"
