Have had a most wonderful 2 weeks in London playing tourist.. from a self guided walk on the Great Fire to enjoying the fun, as well as the pomp & ceremony, of the Coronation to exploring Westminster Abbey AND Cathedral, it’s been a blast. Plus precious family time! What’s not to love….

Wonderful to see the newly reopened Peranakan Museum this evening, great memories of guiding here when it was still the ACM! Really nice to see Kennie Ting, the Museum Director, & loved the street party 😊

Delighted to say the wonderful Handlebards theatre group (in their native UK they cycle to their shows hence the name) is coming back to Singapore to perform “Romeo & Juliet” on Feb 12 & 14; yup love is in the air!

forget the tears and the tragedy & get ready for some live and wired Shakespeare like never seen before! Described by none other than Sir Ian McKellen as “uproariously funny”, the HandleBards present Shakespeare’s plays as you’ve never seen them before – fast-paced, irreverent, and extremely funny. A fantastic celebration lunch for my wonderful husband Sunder’s 70th birthday in the New Forest, UK. Amazing to have the whole family (3 children, 2 children in law & 3 grandchildren) together along with our good (pretty well family!) friends Rosie & Rob. Happy birthday Sunder!

Fantastic to be back in the Windy City! We had an amazing “Singapore in Chicago” lunch with friends from all over the US - so wonderful to reconnect here. Then my fave lemon drop martinis with my very good friend Trudi. Also pictured here are Sunder walking to lunch & Trudi’s hubby John en route to the Martini place. Such a great city, such a wonderful day 😊

Dinner with a Singapore celebrity.

Despite my not being in SG currently, we’re still running our very popular soirées where you have dinner (& drinks!) with a well known person in SG society in an intimate setting, the maximum number of guests being 12.

Previous celebrities have included Adrian Pang, Russel Wong & Julian Davison.

In my absence they’re being held in beautiful shophouses instead of my home, & we have 3 such evenings coming up between now & late November as listed below.

Last night saw our (always lovely) outside terrace transformed into a mini movie theatre for 16 invited guests. After lots of finger food & wine inside, the iconic movie St Jack was shown with an intro by my wonderful friend & film expert (he wrote the book on the making of St Jack) Ben Slater. He also led a lively Q&A session afterwards. This was our first home movie night & although a lot of work - think furniture moving & setting up of screen etc - everyone had a great time. We even served popcorn ….as evidenced by the kacang puteh style paper cones visible in one of these pics!

Absolutely fantastic to be able to start our soirées (aka salon evenings) in our home again with our kick off session last night’s Special Guest broadcaster & journalist Sharanjit Leyl… plus yours truly; yup a double whammy!
Last year we hosted 5 (Special Guests included theatre folk Adrian Pang, Gaurav Kripalani (SRT), Nathalie Ribette (SingTheatre) & authors Josephine Chia & Julian Davison. Sadly I had to suspend them due to Covid rules but they’re back! Forthcoming ones with a space or a few are:
27 May: Russel Wong, photographer (just one spot available!)
10 June: Steve Okun, political commentator
17 June: movie night with Ben Slater
