How is Covid-19 going to alter the design of workspaces?
Many have speculated about a "new normal" after Covid-19. In today's Singapore Straits Times, they ran an article on how office design will be radically different (https://lnkd.in/gWEygr7).
They say that people will still want to work in an office, and not so much from home. Something that I also heard recently from someone. They would like their home to be something separate from work; home is a sanctuary, somewhere to go to after work. In some countries, people may not have the luxury to have a separate home office setup, which would enable them to still achieve the home and office divide.
On the flip side, there have been reports that pollution levels have drastically reduced during this global lock-down period (https://lnkd.in/ggzxWdU); some cities by as much as 60%.
Might we see a middle ground between work-in-office and work-from-home? Might we see satellite offices spring up, such that people who prefer to sometimes, not work from home; can go to a nearby office. This can fulfill their work/home separation. Due to the shorter commute, this might also bring down the human traffic (using climate-harming modes of transportation).
