Typical Slovenian Wines 🍇

Slovenia has numerous delightful wines. In Green Country, the most famous red wines are the Refošk and the Teran. The first one has a long history dating back to Roman times. It is prepared with grapes collected in the coastline region, Primorska. The Refošk tastes bitter fruits and tannin. The Terran differs from the Refošk in that its fruit is harvested in the Kras. Among white wines, the Malvazija is the king. The production of this wine began in Koper as early as the 14th century. The Malvazija taste is described as light and refreshing. It is one of the most popular alcoholic drinks on Slovenian tables.

Ljubljana Sluice Gate 💦

In Slovenian Plečnikove zapornice na Ljubljanici. The dam was built in the first half of the 20th century. It was designed by famous local Jože Plečnik. The architect wanted to refer to ancient Egyptian temple architecture. Interesting elements are Doric columns and Etruscan-looking vessels with carved dragon heads 🐉

On the seaside 🏖 Charm Piran

Piran is one of the most beautiful towns on the Adriatic coast 🌊

The town is small, with less than 4 thousand inhabitants. However, its charm atmosphere attracts tourists every year 😎

The central point of Piran is Tartinijev trg or the old market square. Despite its function, it is not very old at all. It was created in 1894. Before that, there was... port. The square takes its name from the famous violinist born in Piran - Giuseppe Tartini. His statue is located in the center of the Tartinijev trg 🎻

Next to the square, there is the neo-Renaissance town hall and the house called Venetian. It is also worth visiting the lighthouse, the Baroque-Classical Franciscan church and monastery, the 47-meter belfry, and the historic Dolphin Gate 🏦

The views of Piran are breathtaking! The perfect end to the tour is to watch the sunset sitting on the Piran Bay coast 🌅
