The next day we visited another wine region – Vipava Valley, picturesque wine region located in the western part of Slovenia, between the Alpine, Karst and Mediterannean world. It's an idylic landscape covered with vineyards and fruit trees – sleeping beauty of Slovenian tourism. The valley is opened to the west, allowing sub-mediterranean climate to mix with continental climate and creating ideal conditions for winegrowing. This is also one of the windiest places in Slovenia, famous for very strong north-east wind Burja – Bora, which blows from mountain slopes to the valley with speeds up to 180 km/h. In Vipava valley we visited some of the best wineries and tasted some of the most exquisite wines. 🥂🍾

We started with Burja Wine Estate, biodynamic winery, famous for hollistic approach in winemaking. Great emphasis is on local varieties and original expression of each vineyard. We tasted 6 exquisitive wine samples, together with local cheeses. We were lucky to meet winemaker in person, and he even took us around the winecellar. Another specialtiy of the Burja Wine Cellar is that their wine cellar is built vertically, into the rock, according to the principle of gravity and their use of concrete eggs. 🍷

We continued with Povh Winery, family estate, led by young and ambitious winemaker. The winery mostly produces fresh wines, they are most proud of their Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Yellow Muscat and Vipava's autochtonous Zelen. They are an extraordinary producer of Orange Rebula Wine. Great tasting area with the view over the vineyards. Povh Winery is located in Goče village, one of the oldest Slovenian wine village, famous for stone houses and narrow streets. In the past, each house had its own wine cellar.

For the end we visited Lepa Vida Winery, boutique wine cellar, nestled among vineyards. We tasted 9 exquisite wines, together with local snacks and heard so many interesting stories of local culture, geography and history of the wine region and of course winemaking. Very unique and great wine experience.

Another lovely day in the vineyards! 😊🥂🍾🍷

Another wine tour in the Haloze vineyards with a lovely couple from Australia. The wine-growing subregion Haloze lies in the northeastern part of Slovenia, only a few kilometres from Slovenia's oldest town - Ptuj and represents a rugged world of hills, dotted with grapevine and characterized by steep slopes. In Haloze we visited some of the best wineries and tasted some of the most exquisite wines. 🍾🍷

We started with Familija Estate in Dolane. It's a brand-new wine cellar, run by the family Brodnjak, who has been engaged in cultivating vineyards and growing grapes for three generations. We tasted some of their high quality wines, which express varietal character, elegance and minerality, together with some local cheeses and salamis. It was a great honour for us to be their first guests.

We continued with Winery Gorjup in Belski Vrh. The wine cellar was established by a young couple, Nejc and Sabina who together create memorable wine experiences. We tasted some of their fresh, varietal wines and also some of their predicate wines, together with local delicacies.

After two wine tastings, we continued to Ptuj, the oldest town in Slovenia, to a local restaurant Rozika, where we enjoyed traditional fried chicken, together with some appetizers and apple strudel as dessert. ☺️

After lunch we made a short stop at Wine shop Kobal, located in the oldest house in Ptuj. There we tasted some of their quality wines, which express terroir and varietal character, with pronounced body and aftertaste.

It was a lovely day in the vineyards! ☺️🥂🍾
