DR Language Freak is FAMOUS 👌😎

Here’s just a little announcement for those who are trying to reach me. I’m bombarded by a great number of spam messages so I’m sorry if it takes me a longer while to respond.

I’m doing my best to make my page safe from that but there are not so many options to do so.

If you cannot reach me via messenger, please, leave a comment under this post 🙏

✨ SHINE BRIGHT LIKE A DIAMOND 💎

I have never been to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland but I have always wanted to 🥹

So here I am, sitting next to a fireplace in a cosy armchair, sipping my Earl Grey somewhere in between snowy mountains… 😏

…isn’t that a perfect moment to imagine yourself in England? It actually is! 🙃

I have seized the moment and taken Craig Ashton’s (https://www.facebook.com/CraigInRussia) webinar to dig a bit more into the English culture as well as the language and, believe me, I have enjoyed that to the fullest! ☺️

Every knowledge, every language is like a diamond. It needs to be polished and cared about. I’ve popped some new pieces of knowledge in my head and I’m looking forward to sharing that with my students! 😉

Are you intrigued? I absolutely am! 🤩

Once upon a LANGUAGE…

… there were so many tingled thoughts in a multilingual mind

Once upon a language an idea occurred

What if we call every language in one polyglot head a personality? Just for the fun of it.

How did it turn out?

It was more than just fun, it was a private success. It helped to clarify and clear the mind space up! It simply explained a person their inner world better.

Once upon a language another idea came to that mind:

What if one showed that world to others?

DR Language Freak was created that way.

There were so many thoughts, ideas, objectives, aims and what ifs

There was a plethora of everything and nothing

But
What if

What if I shoot a memory video? A heritage that could display how all of that had begun?..

So… here it is.

https://youtu.be/01Vv8OsxOa8

The longest, the heaviest, the hardest project of all times! Just joking. Partially.

I wanted to write so many words about this short film but I was left speechless after watching the result. No more words needed.

I leave the truth of its creation for those few who know the process from the inside.

I’m over the moon having this project finished and entering 2024 renewed.

I have changed. I have grown. I keep developing.

If I have finished that I can finish anything I want! Just joking. Partially.

This post doesn’t need any emoticons but this post needs a name to be mentioned many times.

THANK YOU. You know, how grateful I am.

A DAUNTING TASK 😖

I have mentioned in the previous post bellow that learning is a never-ending process. While making some kind of a progress we tend to focus on the success forgetting there might be a failure. In my opinion, we should always keep in mind that success and failures come together, hand by hand 😒

A daunting task is an intimidating or difficult challenge that seems to be impossible to complete. I have recently faced a few suchlike things 🤯

When an idea of creating a DR Language Freak page occurred to me, I had no clue it would go through the roof. I simply did this

https://www.facebook.com/drLanguageFreak/videos/333942807570562

and thought I was done with challenges for a while 😅

In fact, I just opened the pandora's box which was full of exciting and overwhelming experiences 😅😅😅

An idea for a MOVIE came to my mind. "What if I create something representing my versatile personality more?" I thought. It sounded breathtakingly stunning 🤩

Back then, I thought the only problem I would have would be finding some spare time for shooting. Boy, I got a multitude of obstacles on the way 🤪

Years later, when I decided to shoot an introductory trailer or, literally, an explanation for a movie I faced a daunting task again 😅

It might be awkwardly completed but here it is 👇
This project is related to one biggest achievement of some years. Watch me talking to myself in the way I wanted from the very beginning of my page

It is not perfect but neither am I. I keep learning new things and I will succeed.
Thanks for reading 🤝

PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT🤓

I've been learning, studying and teaching English for so many years that people who know me for a long time got surprised when I said to them I took an English with Lucy course 😅

In fact, I've been following Lucy for some time and I have always wanted to try at least one of her programmes. More than that,

LEARNING IS A NEVER-ENDING PROCESS 😋

I'm a bookworm but I also suspect that I'm addicted to learning. One of my students shared with me that they could not imagine or envision themselves without learning something new. I'm so glad I have such people around me. I'm so happy they chose me as their language mentor 🥹

When I learn something I cannot help thinking how I can use that at my work. I'm willing to share my knowledge and it doesn't matter if it's something brand new for me or I've just learnt that myself. I simply care about my self-development as well as the progress of my students 😎

Recently I have also realised that I'm more afraid of being holier-than-thou (I'd call that as a peacock behaviour syndrome 😅) than admitting that I might be not aware of something.

It goes with all the languages I speak and teach. I learn, I teach and I simply practise everything I can.

Do you want to be a part of DRLF Team? You're very welcome 🤗

I’M TOO DUMB TO READ A BOOK 😰

“Reading a book in a foreign language? I won’t be able to do that! Ever!” 😣

Have you ever thought in this way about yourself? I have. I’m also taking the risk to declare that every language learner faces that problem of such a low self-esteem 😒

Too complicated. Impossible to understand. Close to some kind of a super power 😨

Hmm… not really, nope. Seriously, that’s so wrong! 🙃

I’m a bookworm but it did take me some courage to start reading my first book in my second language (English). It was hard 😬

Apart of usual excuses I had also had a problem of finding and getting an authentic English literature piece! Foreign languages were not that much popular back then, in my hometown especially. If I succeeded to find a book in English, that was usually somehow adapted to a foreign language learner needs… and it didn’t answer mine. I wanted to read an exact story native speakers enjoyed.

I was never interested in translations when I could try my best to understand original masterpieces… except one day 😅

The day I was cursed 😂 I’m joking

Speaking five languages and mastering the 6th one I have come to a conclusion that some languages are more beautiful than others for literature.

In my opinion, Russian has its best features in the written form. I mean, it’s just extremely beautiful in various descriptions and details… Sentences can be so long and precise, the language is full of idioms, metaphors, epithet words… In other words, it’s a paradise for a linguist 🤓 and I AM a linguist after all ✌️

In a nutshell, I want to tell a short story how I have been reading one book for more than three years 😅

I’m keen on Russian classics and I have a favourite writer Fyodor Dostoyevsky. I tried to read his works in English in order to understand how much of his peculiar messages are omitted due to the translation obstacles… and I quit 😩

German came to my mind then. German is the second metaphorically fat language among those I’m supposed to be an expert in. So… I went for it ✊

I hadn’t read “The Brothers Karamazov” yet so I had decided to give it a try in German. I had had no clue it was one of the most complicated literature pieces in the original 😅

Am I too dumb to read a book? 😰

I’m not 😋

I’ve been reading this difficult thing for three years but it doesn’t mean anything… except the fact that Mr. Dostoyevsky IS complicated and sometimes close to impossible 😅

While reading “The Brothers K” I switch to other books in German to allow myself to take rest from that insanity of a literature creation 😇 I read modern and freshly written pieces or dig into true classical German. Then I go back to my beloved heavy paper friend and take the pace again.

Shall I mention I switch to books in other languages? 🙃

Being dumb has no connection with your reading abilities. It is intertwined with your interests, motivation, curiosity and a bit of bravery ☺️

Eager to hear about a few reading tips? Let’s read the world together! ✌️

Sincerely yours,
DR Language Freaking Bookworm 🤓

WOULD YOU FANCY A PIECE OF RP? 😜

Do you know what “RP” is? Can it be divided into pieces? Why do I think of a cup of tea when I read this? It’s a pun and I enjoy puns not less than I do with an RP 🙂

RP is RECEIVED PRONUNCIATION or it used to be called as “speech of the Queen” in Linguistics. It is the English you’re able to understand no matter where you’re from 👌

It is a variant of a language that has been made up for news and social media in general. It is a language that can be clearly understood from the audio perspective. It is a language that you can get when you hear it 😌

It is clear, distinct and, of course, beautiful. Kings and queens have been taught to speak this RP for centuries and it goes the same with TV and suchlike in order to give an audience proper pieces of information…

…but there’re so many accents and dialects! There’re so many people willing to work in the social media field in English, no matter the pronunciation! Does really it matter if people understand you anyway? 😇

I fancy an RP as well as I adore accents and dialects. As a foreigner for English, I’d love to know and be able to pronounce as many variants as I can. I’m so crazy about that that I even teach those I like when a student is interested! Isn’t that just fun? 😜

I collect videos with people who do multiple accents and dialects. Here’re my most favourite ones 👇

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riwKuKSbFDs

Would you enlarge my YT dialects library? Gimme a link in the comments! 🫡
How many can you do yourself? I’d love to hear 🤗 let’s enjoy languages together 🤩

ONLINE TRANSLATOR vs. YOUR OWN BRAINS 😎

My field of knowledge is Translation, Interpretation and Linguistics. That’s how it was called in my University. I entered that just because I had a passion of languages. I was clearly aware of the fact that I wouldn’t work as a translator or an interpreter on the daily basis. All I wanted was studying languages, I’d even say, all I wanted was “downloading” a few languages in my head 🤓

Language is my passion indeed 🤩

When you enter a University that specialises in such a field, you have already got some knowledge of English, at least. I know that in Mathematics one of the crazy things you learn digging deeper sounds like that:

- Do you remember the rule that you cannot divide by zero?
- Sure.
- Well, it’s high time you forget that.

In Linguitstics they say:

- Do you think you know English?
- Well, kind of.
- Let’s see. We’re going to start from the very beginning and see.

That’s when you enter a Narnia Wardrobe for the first time really. That’s when I saw that being good at languages didn’t exactly mean knowing a language. Every language is a Universe with its stars and galaxies… but then Google and other translators came 🧐

When I was a student I heard a lot of times that my profession was getting old-fashioned. Year by year more people were saying that and trying to prove that using Google 🙃

Almost everyday I hear:

- Why learning a language? I can use google.

Language is a passion. Google is a searching engine 🙃🙂

I have no answer to those who use google or any other translator ignoring the mistakes it makes. I don’t underestimate the apps but I would also not underestimate the languages or people who are passionate about them 😏

In fact, I use translators myself. For example, when I write these posts, I write them and then copy and paste into a translator system to see how understandable the translation will be. It does great mostly but sometimes it interprets my words in such a funny way that it simply makes my day 😆

I use online translators to check my knowledge as well as to check how far the modern world has gone in my field 🤨

You know what, online translations are getting better, that’s a fact. But I write, speak and think in English like in my mother tongue, that is also a fact 😋

The thing is whether you want to use your brains or blindly trust a technology with zero feelings and emotions. For technologies language is a system. For me it is a passion 😌

It is up to you what you choose for your life. I’m here for those who want to be smarter than Google. Let’s use gadgets as gadgets, not as brains 😏

MISTAKES ARE ADORABLE 🤗

“Ich würde gerne ein Luchs bestellen,” -
I said in a restaurant in Germany willing to eat a piece of a salmon… which is “Lachs” in German 😬

“Ein Lachs, vielleicht?” - a waitress corrected me and smiled. I laughed realising I had just tried to order a piece of a lynx instead of a fish. How cool is that? 😂

Mistakes are adorable, they may make people smile 😊

When I happen to meet those who are doing their best in my mother tongue I’m even looking forward to hearing some mistakes because I find them exciting as well as hillarious in a very good way. Aren’t you too? 😜

Are you ashamed of your wrong speech? Do you feel bad? 👇

Don’t. It is okay. You have a linguistic super power anyway! ✊👌

“Being wrong is brilliant, you’ve just learned something new,” - said a musician Ren and he’s d*mn right ✌️

I encourage you to make mistakes too. They make you grow faster… or, at least, you may gain a good sense of humour 😉

Obviously, I have known both words (a lynx and a salmon in German). I’m not afraid of making mistakes but sometimes, I admit, it is hard not to scold myself for that. But that’s fine too. Hear me out 👇

Everything is more or less fine if you keep going with your language journey and who knows

I might be ordering a piece of a lynx again ✌️😂 Stay true to yourself!

If you’re interested in my German lessons, you’ll be definitely hearing this funny story again if I see “Lachs” or “Luchs” somewhere 😅

I’m a human too. Humans make mistakes 😉 I’m ready to help you with yours.

P. S. You might be wondering, where’s a piece of salmon in the picture?! Well, I’ve probably uploaded a wrong picture 🙃

YOUR TIME IS PRECIOUS ✨🧭✨

Nowadays life is so hectic. We keep trying to be up-to-date every single moment of our lives rushing to be the best, the first, the most wanted (in a good way 🙃).

Day after day we keep up the race and suddenly realise one week, one month, a year have just gone with a burn notice… Where does the time go? 😳

Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Tik-Tok, WhatsApp… blar-blar-blar. Do you have any of those? How much time do you spend there? Is it worthy? 😬

I’m not social media addicted but I’ve been thinking for a long time how I can help those who think they don’t have time for foreign language lessons. In addition to that, I have been striving to find the way for those who want me to teach them but we have a huge time difference… 🤔

Here’s my good news, dear language enthusiasts 🤗

I have found the way. Finally I have finished one of my baby projects! 🥳

Let me introduce to you my DRLF Chatting System 🥰😍🤩🤓🥸

I have created a partially offline package of lessons that you’re able to complete any time you want! 🤩

In this program I guide you through your target language via WhatsApp. Since I’m keen on creating individual programs, the chatting system includes tasks you’ll enjoy! I bet! 👌

If you don’t have time or money or both for lessons, there’s still a way. Try me! I’m doing my best for you to reach your language goals! ✊

Interested? Drop me a line for more details! 🤗

For now, the program is available in English only 🙃

STAY OVERNIGHT TO GIVE YOUR KNOWLEDGE… or take mine 🤗

I’ve written some time before how underestimated the work of a teacher or a (language) mentor is 👇

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=656739699581744&set=pb.100057371592968.-2207520000&type=3

🖐️ But today I want to show you what you might feel but have never paid a proper attention to 😏

Try to answer my question👇

Why do I choose this teacher? Why not others?

❔❓❔❓❔❓

We live in such an amazing and broad world of possibilities. The world has become a melting pot of cultures, countries, languages and technologies. All of that has given us thousands of possibilities and opportunities to choose who to communicate with and how 😊

How do we find teachers for ourselves? 🫣

The reasons can be obvious like 👇

🤝 the price is good;
🤝 the teacher knows how to explain things to me;
🤝 the teacher is cute… 😋
…etc

I want to show you one hidden and easily seen at the same time feature 😇

PASSION FOR TEACHING 🥹😍🥰🤪

Their eyes spark when you ask them a question. They spread happiness and awareness when they find the right words to explain something complex or complicated. If they don’t know an answer at once, you see how they get excited, not anxious, to search for it and you feel the answer will be found and your issue will be definitely solved 👌😎🤘

Passionate teachers are not afraid of difficult tasks, they welcome them and become happier when they find a solution 😏

You become happier too because of… not the solution only but of the feeling you get with it 🙃

Passionate teachers spread the decease called KNOWLEDGE with all the devotion and desire to help 🤪 Nothing can stop a good teacher from their mission.

Their passion is catchy, do you agree? 🤗

Let me give you an example 👇

A huge time difference is not a problem for me. If I know there’s a good student on the other side of the globe passionately searching for a good teacher. Me ✌️

I can be here for you when you wake up and are ready to start your fresh morning with English, German, Japanese or Russian ✌️

It doesn’t matter if it’s a midnight for me, I’m a magician who shows you the power of my language knowledge no matter the late hour 😴

Passion isn’t everything but it is relevant when you teach or study 🤩🤓

More than that, you might be a person who prefers learning at nights. I’m here for you, dear owls 🤓 You know where to find me when everyone is sleeping… in my study!

Sometimes an individual program might mean individual timing too. I’m here for you if you’re ready to dive 🥳

WHAT IF I‘M AFRAID OF FLIGHTS?! 😰😅

I asked myself this question just 10 years ago.

I couldn’t imagine I would ever be able to go abroad. I had my passion for languages, lack practice (there was hardly any in my hometown) and saved money for a trip to London 🇬🇧

I studied, I worked and I kept saving every penny I could for a dream I didn’t believe would ever come true. The only thing I knew I didn’t belong to the country I was born in and my ambitions needed more possibilities and space than I could ever get there 🧐

So I saved money, in fact I started saving for London when I was 12 years old✌️I checked how much was left for a trip while my friends were wasting their money for bubble gums and stickers 😋 I hoped, London would change my life for good and for better.

When I was a student of the sophomore year, it was still not enough 🤯 I worked hard and quite a lot but anyway… it wasn’t enough.

“Why are you so fixed with London?!” -
asked my mother one day. - “You may end up going nowhere! Go to Germany instead!”

Germany? 😳 🇩🇪 🤔

Well, I liked and studied German too… why not? But I didn’t want to go anywhere as an ordinary tourist (that’s why it was never enough for London 🙃)… so my mum and I began to search for a University I could go for a language practice to 🤓

That was how I got a chance to go abroad for the first time ever. I was exited and scared 🤩😬

I didn’t know anything about such kind of trips, I had never spoken with foreigners without a chance to switch to my mother tongue before. I had never seen planes so close! 😲 I was alone 🫢

When I got on the plane and it started to go, a thought came to my mind: “Wait, I don’t even know if I’m afraid of flights!” 🫣😅

I got terribly lost there, when I arrived, and it was very stressful. I didn’t know anyone and I knew if I failed to find my dormitory in time I would have to stay at the railway station for two more days… 😰 What did help me out?

A LANGUAGE 😊

Two, in fact. I spoke English with strangers but my saviours who pointed to me the right direction (it’s a very long story of searching the right platform, I felt like Harry Potter! 😬) were an old couple speaking German only. My German wasn’t good at that moment but we managed to communicate and I didn’t have to spend any night at the railway station 🥳

Languages can be your saviours. Don’t get lost! Travel safe 😉

07/09/2023

BEING A POLYGLOT IS BEING SUPER SMART 😎✊

True. I guess, that’s true. But what if…

…being a polyglot is being super smart but looking stupid?! 😅

Every person who speaks at least two languages knows that issue too well (NB: I mean those who are not byligual i.e. who learned every other language as a foreign one) 😬

You can be witty in your mother tongue ✊
You can be sophisticated like 🦙 (not a lama but why not? 🙃) in your target language ✊

B
U
T

When you are lost in your thoughts and someone unexpectedly ask you ANY question (it can be even “how are you” one)… you meet…

…THE WAVE 🌊

The more languages you have in your head, the bigger the wave of tingled words with grammar is 🤯😅

How high is the tsunami of my own? Give me your guesses in the comment section 👇

LANGUAGE = IMAGINATION ✨

Most of you have known the feeling of not being aware of what you might want to do in the future. Adults start asking kids this question from quite an early age 🤯

Who do you want to be when you grow up?
What do you want to be when you grow up?

❓❔❓❔❓❔❓

Most children find their answers in their imagination, they want to be this or that depending on how they imagine that should be preformed ✨

Some want to be actors or actresses, some astronauts or cosmonauts, some want to be clouds or unicorns…

I wanted to be an archeologist because I didn’t know that was actually not the guy who’s digging the dinosaurs’ bones out 😬 I was simply keen on dinos and wanted to find one myself ✊

If you want to ask me where the languages are, I’m glad you do 🤗

When I was 8 years old, I had already developed my imagination quite profoundly 🙃

My friend and I created The World of Wolves where the main secret was that we, humans, just pretended to be humans because we were tired of a complicated world where we were living… In other words, a human world was the world where we, wolves, could have a vacation and talk to each other without following very strict hierarchic rules of The World of Wolves ✌️

That’s an interesting story, DR Language Freak, but where are the languages??? 🤨

Look at the picture in the post. My friend and I did create a non-existent (but who knows 😇) world in our heads but I wasn’t satisfied with that until…

…Until I created an alphabet for a tribe of wolves I belonged to 😋

I knew my mother tongue only so I used Russian as a basis. Isn’t that beautiful? 🥹

No complex grammar or a new syntax order, I wasn’t a Tolkien but I was just an 8 years old kid and I wrote letters with that. Then we had to decipher every single letter… Boy, did it take a lot of time! 😬 But we enjoyed it!

I AM a language freak, am I not? 🙃😉

The letters did not survive the time but the alphabet did. Years later, an archeologist will find that and start investigating my tribe… 😌

Imagination is everything, don’t forget to use your abilities on a daily basis… or let’s create a language of your own! ✌️

BROKEN SPEECH OR GONE INTERNATIONAL? 😁😜😵‍💫🤪

I bet you’ve heard many times that speaking two and more languages give you a way more opportunities than speaking just one. I’ve mentioned myself that being a polyglot gives you freedom 😌

In this post I want to talk about childhoods… of languages. Do you have any idea what it might mean? 🤗

When you are born, you know zero languages. You open your eyes and learn everything about the world step by step, slowly developing the language you hear around yourself 😲

When you learn your first foreign language, you start to compare that with the language you have already improved to be called fluent and native. When you do so, you forget that very first method we all naturally know 🤫

Every language has its birth, childhood, adulthoods and, by the way, you are the God to decide whether it will pass away or not! 😬

Every language can be learned the same way you learned your mother tongue. Isn’t that fascinating and funny?! 🤭

I’ve been to Croatia recently and I don’t speak Croatian. But I understand a big part of the speech because I speak two other Slavic languages. So I decided to play 🤹‍♀️

All I was doing during five days was reading the ads in the streets and listening to the natives. I ordered food, spoke to a bus driver and some other people using a combination of Slovak, Russian and Croatian that I had already grasped 🤹‍♀️

I’m sure my speech was weird and broken but I had so much fun and there was ZERO misunderstanding! It was so much more funnier than speaking English! 🏵️

Imagine, would you feel better if you hear broken speech in your mother tongue or English/German when they are your foreign ones? My heart melts when I hear foreigners trying to speak my mother tongue, I’m always excited and pleased 🤗

LEARNING CAN BE EASY PEASY AND FUN

All you need is courage and curiosity 🙃

But if you fail to explain yourself to your audience, it would have been better to be able to speak English or German too 😋

In Slovenia and Poland my experiment was harder but I could always find someone speaking English or German 👌

If you want that kind of freedom, you know what to do. Let me be your guide in a language and with a language. Freedom is also a choice ✨

A MESSY VIDEO IS STILL A VIDEO 🤪

I’ve written in the previous post of mine. I’m always giving you some time to think about my actions and then I’m giving you answers to the questions you haven’t even asked 😀

Nowadays we live in the world of fashionable and fake social media. Most of people are tend to perform and show off to reach their goals, they are itching to gain the necessary attention by perfect make-ups, idealistic pictures and trained speech 😎

I don’t blame them, I even adore them in a way because these people, most of them, are hard-working. They spend hours to show you what you’re supposed to want to watch and like. I simply work in a different way. Here’s the truth 👇

I HAVE MY DRAWBACKS AND I’M LAZY

Do these two words make me a bad person? Nope, they don’t, not at all. They make me honest, genuine and, I hope, inspirational 🤞

I’m bad at maths but I’m damn good at languages and psychology 👌
I’m bad at video editing but I’m good at ideas for those videos 👌
I hate shooting myself but I love watching the result 👌

Do you have anything similar? 👇

I’m lazy. I’m lazy to spend a lot of time preparing for a video 🫣
I’m lazy to write a script and learn it more or less by heart 🫣
I’m lazy to play a role. In fact, I don’t want to play any role! 🙄

I’M INDUSTRIAL 😜

Surprise surprise, I WORK HARD. You just don’t see it until you get to know me as a language mentor, linguo coach, mental mentor DR Spiritual Freak or just a person. I just don’t waste my time on the things I have considered as irrelevant 🙃

Let me give you an example. Like most of you, if not all, I follow a few YT people. I like and enjoy their content, I appreciate the time they have spent creating all of that but

I also feel
I WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO DO SO 😵‍💫

Why? I have written some of the reasons above. So I have been thinking and I’ve come to a conclusion that I want my pages to be different. I want my pages DR Language Freak and DR Spiritual Freak to show who I really am ❣️

I want you to trust me from the very beginning and more than that I want you to believe in your own strength and abilities! I want you to think 👇

IF SHE CAN DO THAT I CAN TRY TOO! I AM ABLE TO GAIN WHAT I WANT, WHY NOT?!

Yes, that’s all. Don’t thank me. Or rather do. You can break up with your past way of thinking faster with me 😊

Enjoy the life! 🔅
