Castle and Park of Aymerich - Laconi is a municipality in the Province of Oristano - Sardinia. It is located about 70 km north of Cagliari and about 40 km east of Oristano. The main centre of the area houses a beautiful park, rich in magnificant plants and streams, wich surrounds with Aymerich Castle. Laconi's Park and garden Aymerich is a beautiful historic grounds that have featured strongly in Sardinia's history, from the 8th century to the present day. Thanks to their central position and the abundance of natural springs, the park grounds have attracted human settlement since ancient times. Testimony to this are the many archeological finds and the park's enchanting medieval castle ruins. Built around the 8th or 9th centuries, the castle was used as a holiday residence by the Guidici, or rulers of Arborea. During this era, Sardinia was divided into four kingdoms known as Giudicati, which were governed by the Giudici.

The Sardinian Saffron is a European quality label that designates a herbaceous plant in the dried stigmas or wires belonging to the genus Crocus sativus, grown, harvested and processed in the province of Medio Campidano, Sardinia.
In February 2009, the name Zafferano di Sardegna has been recognized designation of origin (PDO)
The PDO Sardinian Saffron is distinguished by the high coloring power, the therapeutic effects and flavoring properties.
One of the traditional techniques handed down from generation to generation and that requires the attention of experienced hands is wetting - before drying - the stigmas with extra virgin olive oil.
Like every year, in the fall, the "Festival of Saffron" takes place in the towns of San Gavino Monreale, Turri and Villanovafranca. During the days of the festival, in addition to visiting the country, tourists have the opportunity to taste typical dishes of Sardinian cuisine based on this valuable ingredient.
