⛏️🏕️Volunteering camps for the summer '24 ended on saturday. Huge thanks to all 132 🇧🇪⚜️ from 5 groups for starting up the water mill renovation project. 💪

🥾 One of the reasons we think Slovakia is the perfect destination for Scouts ⚜️ is the hiking potential of the country. Almost 78% of the territory is mountainous and the landscape is very diverse. ⛰️

3 most popular hiking destinations are High Tatra mountains, Low Tatras or Slovak Paradise, but you can find great hiking trails almost everywhere, as there are around 15 000 km of networked trails around the county. The network is mostly well marked and with a map on your phone or a paper version you can orientate easily. 🗺️

Unusually warm February day was perfect for another explorations. 🧭 We planned a new circuit trail around our campsites in Čabraď and Drienovo. 🏕️ We started in Čabradský Vrbovok village and descended on an old, mediaval road to Litava river valley. Little explorations of the abandoned village and climbed on the Čabraď castle. 🏰 We continued the trail on the ridge of the castle hill and passed an area of 15th century military siege base. Then descended once again to the valley and visited campsite and our summer water mill project in Drienovo. Last part was to hike up to Drienovo village and back to the starting point, through charming "Krupina" plains. 🥾 5 hours hike, which we can definitely recommend to all Scout groups camping in Čabraď and Drienovo destination.🚶‍♀️🚶

2 weeks, 9 🇧🇪⚜️Scout groups, 131 people, around 2000 hours of volunteering in 6 areas. 💪Lots of work done and hopefuly great memories left. That was the summer volunteer camp ´23 in Štiavnické Bane 🇸🇰

A winter check on Čabraď, a perfect destination for groups who seek volunteering. After two years of covid break it finally seems we will be able to host Scout groups from Europe in the summer '22 and participate in reconstruction of the castle, abandoned village and help with nature conservation projects in the valley.
