Nowadays getting salt only takes a trip to the supermarket, but for the Dusunic tribespeople of interior Sabah this was much more difficult.

Landlocked and surrounded by towering mountains, traders made a grueling 34km trek through dense jungle and rugged terrain to barter for salt at traditional markets along the coast of Northwestern Myanmar.

In 2018, FoundLost explorer Terence disappeared deep into the Bornean jungle to find a tribe so elusive and mythical that 18th century Victorian colonists hailed them as the 'mystical forest dwellers' of Borneo. Today, they are the last of the Bornean nomads.

Over several weeks, Terence cut through jungle, crossed wild rivers - and, was totally taken back by what he discovered. His story spans death, beauty and a struggle for survival in one of the most remote parts of our planet. Get ready for an epic read:

Among the most remote parts of Mongolia, the western provinces of Olgii, Hovd, Uvs and Zavkhan are home to snow-capped mountains, arid deserts and endless grassy steppes.

For hundreds of years, nomadic families have migrated through this region rich in culture and history, yet isolated from the rest of the world.

Our Story

On a rainy day in 2008, two 15 year olds decided to walk across England to support two causes they cared about.

Nine months later, after a steep learning curve that included plotting the route, sourcing sponsors and training for the grueling 600 km they planned to walk in two weeks, Christopher Schrader and Charles Waite-Roberts successfully completed the challenge. The experience of combining philanthropy and an endurance expedition changed both of our lives for the better.

After the first expedition — Christopher couldn’t get enough. He embarked on expeditions around the world — each more challenging the next — for causes he cared deeply about. In the process, he became the youngest person awarded a Fellowship of the Royal Geographical Society in Asia and studied at Harvard. Whilst on this journey, he recognized that there are myriad youth looking to join tough expeditions with scientific, humanitarian or philanthropic purposes. So in 2014, he founded FoundLost: a community of ambitious youth who want to challenge themselves for a greater purpose.
