With 25.3 km² of surface and located at an altitude of 745 meters above sea level, Lake Coatepeque comes from a volcanic origin.

It is among the so-called Super Volcanoes that were formed after four cataclysmic eruptions, which is why it has a depth of 115 m in its deepest area. And they are located on the two islands, Isla los Manguitos and Isla Teopán.

Its name Coatepeque in the ancestral Nahuatl language means "Hill of Snakes."

It was recently declared a Protected Natural Reserve, which provides visitors and tourists with green landscapes and natural waters ideal for practicing adventure sports such as diving, water skiing, sailing, canoeing, swimming, among others.

All these characteristics make El Lago de Coatepeque the ideal place to enjoy an unforgettable vacation, whether accompanied by friends or family, since it offers a diverse hotel capacity that adjusts to the needs of those who wish to visit it.
