During spring cleaning we came across this original poster from 1991. White-water rafting was founded by in 1991, when it operated under the umbrella of . In 1996 it rebranded itself as Swazi Trails and has been ticking over as a foundation stone of the Kingdom’s adventure tourism industry ever since. Darron was still out guiding trips this past week, 33 years later. Memories for him, evoked by this poster, included: a nod to Usutu Pulp Company for their CSR grant that facilitated this business startup (UPC, later became SAPPI, and now Montigny); similar thanks to ; appreciation to for lending us this raft, whilst we awaited our own rafts, and a wonder if Pieter de Ras, the celebrated SA photographer, who took this pic, is still around? Most of the people in this pic were models, who travelled to Eswatini for this shoot - if anyone recognizes them, please shout out to us!

Sitting here at Legends Shared reading by torchlight round the campfire, we were reminded tonight how lucky we are. This is one of Eswatini’s most developed suburbs, the American Embassy is 800m away, The Gables Mall just 400m… yet we can still hear the sounds of nature so clearly. A troop of baboons are going ape-sh*t nearby, barking non-stop in warning and terror. The prime suspect stirring baboons this close to midnight… would have to be a leopard Whilst the suburb sleeps, Africa is wide awake.

Customized. Whilst “packaging” seems to be the flavor of the month when it comes mass market appeal, we enjoy customizing itineraries to suit exactly what our clients are looking for. It was great to welcome journalist extraordinaire ‘s Angus Begg back to Eswatini after “way too long” and his from the States, Justine & Keith - who travel almost nonstop, like we mere mortals flip through an atlas. 3 nights, 3 days… plenty stops and raw unpackaged interactions. Many thanks to those who made the time to share their stories… we look forward to reading and viewing the translations

People sometimes ask us: what do we do? One of the things we do, is to do things right: like pulling a collaboration together of experiences and service that just flows smoothly leaving our clients to relax and enjoy. Like this fun meal for 70pax. Within a week of getting the brief and the budget we had a venue, a menu, drinks and a team that delivered service with clockwork precision. Easy? Maybe… but it comes with 30 years of lessons in what works and what doesn’t.

Adventure Caving - ticked off ✅. Earlier this year we collaborated with our industry colleagues Big Game Parks to offer a prize for the annual BGP Resolution Run. The prize was for the Best Water Table and gave 10 team members an opportunity to explore the massive Gobholo Caves. Just recently the Dixie’s team took up their prize and it was an adventure and a half. To see how this session rolled out across 130 images visit https://bit.ly/CAVING13Aug22
