Due to their behaviors and the depth of water that they prefer, dolphins are not an every day sighting for us. This encounter with a small pod of young Atlantic Spotted Dolphins was certainly the cherry on top of yesterday’s trip! 🐬💙
We are certainly in peak season! The last two weeks on the water have been absolutely incredible and somehow each trip just keeps sharing new encounters and experiences! Today we had the absolute pleasure to swim with this male humpback whale, while he was singing his heart out! Not only was his song beautiful and impressive below the surface, but we could even hear him from above! Back on the boat, we had the opportunity to hear his song echo through the hull, as he was just hanging out next to us. Truly an experience of a lifetime and something our guides have always dreamed of!

It’s always important to remember that we watch and experience wild animals. In water encounters are only possible when the whale’s behaviors and sea conditions allow. Each trip is unique in its own way and there is never a way to predict the whale’s behaviors. However, each and every moment we get to spend with them is special, no matter what they’re up to and doing! 🐳💙

Yesterday, our crew went out on a scouting trip and came across a trio of humpback whales - a mom, calf and escort! This little calf, estimated to be just a few weeks old, traveled close to the surface as mom traveled a little deeper in the water column. Staying close behind, the escort accompanied this new mom and baby as they traveled into the shallow waters.

Our first whales of the 2024 season! This pair of humpback whales has been identified by @tciwhaleproject as Bungee and her 2023 calf, who is now a yearling! Bungee is a well known humpback whale in her feeding grounds, the Gulf of Maine; ranging South of Cape Cod, Massachusetts and spanning up to Nova Scotia, Canada! This mother calf pair might soon part ways, so this encounter felt a little extra special today! If you listen carefully, you can even hear a male singing in the distance! We are so happy to welcome them back to the Turks and Caicos Islands! 🐳
