In 2010, when I was a university student in California, USA, I would give my international student roommates tours of Southern California and Northern Mexico for fun. It was exciting to share my knowledge and learn about how their culture differed from my own. Fast forward to 2015 and I had been teaching English in Thailand for three years and was ready to find a way to fill my leisure time - what
better than starting a non-profit tour guide charity called TKT (Teacher Ken Travels)? I had already spent my free time researching about the culture and history from scholarly Thai sources and talking with the locals so it seemed natural to be a freelance tour guide for budget travelers. After traveling Cambodia, where travelers get charged for practically everything (including directions and advice), I was inspired to do everything FREE to reshape the world-view of people about how the world is filled with people who are drived by passion, excitement and friendliness instead of just financial gain. I firmly hope that my charity helps you know that there are kind people out there who are motivated by meeting people new people, hearing their stories, and learning more about this amazingly diverse world we live in.
