A Guide to Bangkok's MRT Subway System. Tip: If you are 60 or over you can buy an elder travel. card which gives you a 50% discount on fares. Its a tap in tap out stored value card. You have to buy 100 baht credit and there is a deposit of 50 baht. You can buy it at the ticket office. You will need to show your passport. When you leave Bangkok you take it back to the ticket office and any credit remaining and the deposit will be refunded. The card is only valid on the Blue and Purple lines. For the Pink and Yellow lines you have to buy a separate single ticket.
