The different areas of Krabi District!
As you can see on the map- Krabi is a huge district,
Located perfectly well amd easy to get to and from Phukey, Khao Lak, Khao Sok, Southern Thailand and Koh Lipe, Koh Samui/Phangan/Koh Tao and many many more...
While you're here- take a moment to pick the area that suits you most- we summarised our impression on some the more familiar areas in Krabi 😊
👉 Ao Nang Beach
Mostly when people talk about Krabi, they talk about this area. The most central and touristic area in Krabi. It's important to understand that still, in comparison to Phuket/Koh Samui for example- it's considered calmer :)
In this area you'll find the beautiful Ao Nang beach and impressive cliff! And of course plenty of restaurants, bars, hotels/hostels, shops, massage places, smoothies, travep agemcies etc.
Ao Nang area is also very big and we do recommend exploring the mountanous areas, just a few minutes drive.
If it's important for you to stay at a central locayion- open the map and look between COSI hotel and Krabi Resort.
We recommend starting in this area :)
👉 Klomg Muang Beach
A beautiful, clean, calm and quiet beach, only 10 mins. beautiful drive from Ao Nang area you'll find a wide shore, clear water and amazing view.
Most Luxury Hotels oof Krabi are located here and it is recommended to visit there even if you don't stay there.
** Railay Beach-
One of the most famous beaches around, we're sure you heard of before you arrived :).
It's a very small area, no cars\tuk tuks around, with one main street, you would get the feeling of an Island while being only 10 muns. away from Ao Nang.
Arrival is via boat only and it's very easy to explore!
**if you take a long tail boat from Ao Nang with luggage- ask for help in advance as it is less convenient- but possible! :)
3 Beaches of Railay:
1. Railay West-
The main beach you get to from Ao Nang, beautiful beach very close to the main street with all the shops and restaurants!
2. Railay East-
The main Pier of Railay gets there, it's impossible to swim there but the nicer hotels are located there, and everything is very close anyway!
3. Phra Nang\ Princess Cave Beach-
A short walk to this beautiful spot! the entrance is pretty touristic, but if you're smart ;) you can continue walking on the beach and find some quiet spots with the best views and the cleanest clear water around!
We recommend coming with drinks and snacks as this beach is a bit further from all the shops and bars.
In Railay you'll find most of the hotels are very basic, the vibe is quite "Stoney-Hippie" wiith many Reggae Bars, live music and only local food around.
One of the attractions there is Rock Climbing! but for real professional climbers- check out Tonsai Beach!
If you're not sure wheather you want to spend a night there, get a boat (100THB per direction, per person) and spend the day there to feel the vibe and decide.
**Koh Phi Phi Islands!
Another very familiar destination in Krabi is this area! Phi Phi (pronounced pe**ee :)) is a small Island, no cars\ tuktuks- all by walking! you'll find a huge variety of restaurants, bars and the most beautiful water in the area! (Don't miss out on Maya Bay!)
The vibe there is very vibrant and young :) like a continuous party and is normally packed with people! Therefore, very good for people who look for this vibe!
You can also take a day tour to all the nicest beaches, the tour is called "7 Islands" and go out from any other area in Krabi.
If you're not sure if you want to stay there for a night or more- take the day tour and get o know it better :).
