I believe in destiny; we contemplate and that energy brings us to a place where we belong or to what is good for ourselves.
💕 Ko Jum 🏝️🏡 is a special place for me, a place where I have called home for the last 10 years.
I first came to Ko Jum in October 2014 during a 3 months road trip in Thailand on a mission to search for a property where my ex-husband and I could settle and live a simple life. For years, I have travelled a lot and to almost every corner and beyond of Thailand. This time, we drove from Bangkok to the northern region to northeast and down to Bangkok then down south then to Krabi where I previously visited countless of times.
Ko Jum was the last destination on that trip.
How did we find Ko Jum?
First, my ex and I booked our flights to Thailand for the 3 months trip.
2-4 weeks later, family in the UK wanted to join us so we planed a family holiday and my ex‘s step mum found and have booked for our stay.
2-4 days later, out of the blue, with no connection to the booking, the owner of Ko Jum Beach Villas contacted my company in Thailand that she is looking for a Thai language teacher for face to face lessons.
This is destiny … so here I come …
And I fell in love with the island after a few days staying here. What I love the most is the people here. They are so kind and generous. When I walk on the street to a beach, so many people stop and ask me if I need a lift (free of charge, of course). The neighbours and villagers are so kind saying hello and bringing me fish and more. We exchange kindness. They have not much but happy and content and live a simple life, kind and open to others, no rush, no standard, easy going, do not need much, free spirit, relax and be happy and be content in life. It’s a real community feeling and simple lifestyle which I have not experienced for a long time in Bangkok and Europe or any other islands in Thailand because those islands nowadays it’s for tourism businesses, making money as much as possible, tourists come and go, no permanence, no true respect to the spirit of the place and community vibe has disappeared.
People on Ko Jum has mix beliefs and customs from north to south; Urak Lawoy Sea Gypsy people, muslim Thais, Chinese Thais, new settlers (like me), long term visitors and short term tourists but we all live peacefully among each others and this is a beautiful thing of Ko Jum. It's such a small island with diversities living in peace, an example of how we should live with each other in this world.
Ko Jum itself has no chain shops, chain resorts (yet) and from my house, it’s only a short boat trip and a car trip of approximately 1-1.30 hour to Krabi Airport and about 1-2 hours to amazing islands and spots in the Andaman sea. The island feels like an escape away but not remote at all.
And for people who seek solitude, Ko Jum is the place for you due to its charm; calmness, settling feeling, lushness of nature, openness, kindness, compassion and more and who comes do find peace and healing energy on Ko Jum. Do you agree? 💕

💕 เกาะจำ 🏝️🏡 เป็นสถานที่พิเศษสำหรับฉัน เป็นสถานที่ที่ฉันเรียกว่าบ้านมาเป็นเวลา 10 ปีแล้ว
ฉันมาที่เกาะจำครั้งแรกเมื่อเดือนตุลาคม 2557 ระหว่างการเดินทางท่องเที่ยวทางรถยนต์เป็นเวลา 3 เดือนในประเทศไทย โดยมีภารกิจตามหาซื้อที่ดินหรือบ้านที่ฉันและอดีตสามีสามารถตั้งรกรากและใช้ชีวิตเรียบง่ายได้ เป็นเวลาหลายปีแล้วที่ฉันเดินทางไปหลายที่และไปเกือบทุกมุมประเทศไทยและนอกประเทศ ครั้งนี้ เราขับรถจากกรุงเทพฯ ไปยังภาคเหนือ ภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ และลงมาที่กรุงเทพฯ จากนั้นลงใต้ แล้วไปกระบี่ ซึ่งฉันได้มาเที่ยวนับครั้งไม่ถ้วน
เกาะจำคือจุดหมายปลายทางสุดท้ายในการเดินทางครั้งนั้น
เราพบเกาะจำได้อย่างไร
เริ่มแรกคือ ฉันและอดีตสามีจองตั๋วเครื่องบินมาประเทศไทยสำหรับทริป 3 เดือนนั้น
2-4 สัปดาห์ต่อมา ครอบครัวในอังกฤษต้องการมาร่วมกับเรา ดังนั้นเราจึงวางแผนวันหยุดพักผ่อนแบบครอบครัว และแม่เลี้ยงของอดีตสามีของฉันพบ Koh Jum Beach Villas - "A member of Secret Retreats" สำหรับเป็นที่พักของพวกเรา
2-4 วันต่อมา เจ้าของ Ko Jum Beach Villas ติดต่อบริษัทของฉันในประเทศไทยโดยว่าเธอกำลังมองหาครูสอนภาษาไทยเพื่อเรียนแบบตัวต่อตัว

และฉันก็ตกหลุมรักเกาะนี้หลังจากพักที่นี่ได้ไม่กี่วัน สิ่งที่ฉันชอบที่สุดคือผู้คนที่นี่ พวกเขาใจดีและเอื้อเฟื้อเผื่อแผ่มาก เมื่อฉันเดินไปตามถนนไปยังชายหาด มีคนจำนวนมากหยุดและถามฉันว่าฉันต้องการรถไปส่งไหม (ฟรี) เพื่อนบ้านและชาวบ้านใจดีมาก ทักทายและนำปลาและของอื่นๆ มาให้ฉัน เราแลกเปลี่ยนน้ำใจกัน พวกเขาไม่มีอะไรมากแต่มีความสุขและพอใจ ใช้ชีวิตเรียบง่าย ใจดีและเปิดใจกับผู้อื่น ไม่เร่งรีบ ไม่มีมาตรฐาน สบายๆ ไม่ต้องการอะไรมากมาย มีจิตวิญญาณอิสระ ผ่อนคลาย มีความสุข และพอใจในชีวิต เป็นความรู้สึกชุมชนที่แท้จริงและวิถีชีวิตเรียบง่ายที่ฉันไม่ได้สัมผัสมานานแล้วในกรุงเทพฯ ยุโรป หรือเกาะอื่น ๆ ในประเทศไทย เพราะเกาะเหล่านั้นในปัจจุบันเป็นการทำธุรกิจการท่องเที่ยวซะส่วนใหญ่ ทำเงินให้ได้มากที่สุด นักท่องเที่ยวเข้ามาแล้วก็ออกไป ไม่มีความถาวร ไม่มีความเคารพต่อจิตวิญญาณของสถานที่อย่างแท้จริง และบรรยากาศชุมชนก็หายไป
ผู้คนบนเกาะจำมีความเชื่อและประเพณีผสมผสานกันตั้งแต่ทางบริเวณเหนือของเกาะถึงทางใต้ มีชาวเลอูรักลาโวย ชาวไทยมุสลิม ชาวไทยจีน ผู้ตั้งถิ่นฐานใหม่ (เช่นฉัน) นักท่องเที่ยวที่เดินทางมาเป็นพักอยู่เป็นเวลานาน และนักท่องเที่ยวระยะสั้น แต่พวกเราทุกคนต่างก็ใช้ชีวิตอย่างสันติสุขร่วมกัน และนี่คือสิ่งที่สวยงามของเกาะจำ เกาะแห่งนี้เป็นเกาะเล็ก ๆ ที่มีความหลากหลายและอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสันติ เป็นตัวอย่างของการอยู่ร่วมกันอย่างสันติในโลกใบนี้
เกาะจำ(ยัง)ไม่มีร้านค้าและรีสอร์ทใหญ่ ๆ และจากบ้านของฉัน ก็สามารถนั่งเรือและขับรถไปสนามบินกระบี่ได้เพียงระยะเวลาสั้น ๆ ประมาณ 1-1.30 ชั่วโมง และไม่ไกลจากเกาะและแหล่งธรรมชาติอันสวยงามในทะเลอันดามัน 1-2 ชั่วโมงก็ถึง เกาะแห่งนี้ให้ความรู้สึกของการหลบหนีความวุ่นวาย แต่ก็ไม่ได้ห่างไกลเลย
และสำหรับคนที่แสวงหาความเงียบสงบ เกาะจำคือสถานที่สำหรับคุณเนื่องจากเสน่ห์ของเกาะ ความสงบ การหยั่งถึง ธรรมชาติอันอุดมสมบูรณ์ ความเปิดกว้าง ความเมตตา ความเห็นอกเห็นใจ และอื่น ๆ อีกมากมาย และผู้ที่มาจะพบกับความสงบและพลังแห่งการเยียวยาบนเกาะจำ คุณเห็นด้วยมั้ย? 💕
