The milk and sweet oil which is gathered from them is added into almost every main local dish. People from Samui feel that if they eat a soup or curry that doesn’t have coconut milk, they don’t feel full ….

Our beautiful island boasts more variations of coconuts than anywhere else on the planet - the palm tree is interchangeable now with a symbol of Koh Samui.

Big Thank You all for the wonderful messages, calls videos and birthday wishes on my 70th Birthday. Very blessed 🥰

Neill and Lizzie had apparently been secretly organizing my 70th for months, together with Singapore Airlines, and our friend Patrick Fisher, Raffles Hotel Manager and his amazing team …..incredible celebrations, beautiful gifts, a late lunch in Tiffin Room and our beautiful room - Elizabeth Taylor Suite - where we continued into the evening with champagne and more than a few Singapore Slings…

My mother and father lived at Raffles in the late 1940’s early 1950’s ... I was born in Singapore, and this iconic hotel was the centre of our family’s life. I spent a lot of time here over the last 70 years. Neill too with his family (his dad was Qantas Airport Manager)

Celebrating at Raffles was the most unexpected and nostalgic surprise for me.
And our friend Leslie Danker, Raffles legendary archivist for over 50 years, joining me at breakfast for a chat and reminisce was indeed very special
