Wednesday was the final day of our epic “Childrens Hospital Foundation” cycle from Bang Saen 🇹🇭 to Phnom Penh🇰🇭, a journey that should have taken 100 clicks more, but a route change gifted us with nice roads and a day of exploring in the Cambodian capital.

After cycling for 6 days, a lot of things blend together and it's hard to separate what happened and where. That said, the days we remember the most were the days that challenged us the most and generally required a real dose of resilience. Today (the last day) was not one of those days, so we're quite thankful that the last day of the challenge was entirely uneventful and can be described as “we went for a cycle”.

The numbers:
- 680km cycled
- 4 inner tube changes (3-1 to Tom)
- 1 tyre change
- 11659 calories burnt
- 52.8km/h top speed
- 22.4km/h average speed.
- 1000 hellos
- 2 Pizzas
And lots of donations to support the work of the fantastic people at the Childrens Hospital Foundation, Thailand. Just because we have stopped peddling, doesn’t mean that donations have to stop, so if you would like to support their work or learn more about the charity, you can do so here: https://childrenhospitalfoundation.org/en/

We'd like to thank everyone that has followed and supported our trip from Thailand to Cambodia, and look forward to your support on our next adventure…..

🇹🇭 Kop Khun Kap, 🇰🇭Saum Arkhon, 🇬🇧Thank you

Cheers

Day 5 from Pusat to Kampong Chhnang was the day of HELLO!

Wherever you looked a young person was chasing us by foot, bicycle or motorbike to say, shout and scream “HELLO!”

It is an incredible honour to cycle in Thailand and Cambodia as the people are supportive, courteous, enthusiastic and just intrigued to know what 2 sun burnt foreigners are doing on bicycles in remote parts of these amazing 2 countries….

Cycling for long distances can be so so so so so boring and to keep myself mentally motivated, I personally need distractions to take my mind away from cycling. Yes I. Pretend I’m not cycling whilst I cycle.

I may play games(with myself), sing to myself (when nobody is around) or just smile at people to see how many smiles I get back. Today I hit a record and got 1000s of smiles 😀😃😄😁

“Smile and the whole world smiles with you” Frank Sinatra

Today we were surrounded by energetic beaming smiles everywhere. The shouts of hello and huge smiles were the energy gels we needed, but without the sugar and goo.

The final and home straight of this 6 day cycle will start tomorrow at 6am and “should” lead us to Phnom Penh for around midday. Fingers crossed for a day with zero flats!!!

If you would like to learn more about the charity we are riding for or to make a donation from within Thailand, you can do so here https://www.childrenhospitalfoundation.or.th/oneheartnewlife/

If you would like to track the ride to make sure we actually do it, you can do so here: (we usually set off around 6am local time) https://www.strava.com/beacon/nZbN75vCrcG
