There’s nothing I love more than sharing all the ins & outs of Bangkok and Thailand to people who come here for their first time! Slaven and Laura, who are originally from Croatia, were on a massive trip around Asia, and I responded to a post they made on Facebook looking for assistance. I wanted to understand the practicalities of navigating Thailand in a wheelchair, which I imagined would be a challenge, so I offered to help. It’s really a challenge anywhere but dealing with boats, uneven roads, and long distances adds another level to anyone with mobility issues. What I did find was that Bangkok’s train system is very accessible, and we were able to find elevators leading to the train platforms in every station we needed. The local Thais assisted in us in getting into boats and taxis without any issue, just another reflection of the beautiful cohesive culture here. It was an incredible, fun-filled couple of days of ancient cities, hidden bars, and of course, the best Thai food on the planet!

Daytrip outside of Bangkok with mom and the fam to the famed Maeklong Railway Market where vendors set up and tear down their shops every time the train comes through! TBH…the vendors move their tables a solid five minutes before the train arrives (which btw is moving at a glacial pace). Not really thrilling as I would hope…but hey, I can finally check this spot off the Thailand bucket list. 🚂🙏🏻🤓

In April during the hottest month of the country, Thailand celebrates its New Year with Songkran. It’s all about washing away the past and cleansing ourselves for the year to come. It’s also become a nation-wide water fight! 💦🔫💦

Due to the pandemic, it’s been 3 years since the last Songkran, so this one proved to be ABSOLUTELY INSANE! A must for anyone who loves Thailand!

With April just days away, Bangkok has slowly begun to turn up the heat. More showers throughout the day, more hours spent hiding from the sun. But if I had to choose between this and the below-freezing temps from former cities I once called home, Bangkok wins every time.

Just three more weeks to go to the biggest water fight on the planet. I CAN’T WAIT!

At over 1000 feet (314 meters), the MahaNakhon Bangkok Skybar is the highest sky bar in all of Thailand! Sky bars are what make Bangkok one of the most exciting cities in the world, and starting your adventure on the 77th floor of this uniquely-designed building is just one option available!

During the height of the pandemic, I used to come here and watch the sunset. It become my favorite spot during that time…a place to daydream, to find some peace from the noise below in the streets… but most of all, to marvel at what an incredible city Bangkok truly is. Seeing it from that height is something that cannot be described. You just have to come see for yourself. 😉

You don’t know what you don’t know. And sometimes you just have to try something new. Bangkok is full of new experiences that goes beyond that plate of noodles or the giant Buddhas. It’s living like a local, and doing things how they do them. Motorbikes can be the fastest way to get around the city when traffic is insane, and Bangkok has a well-established system of drivers ready to take you anywhere. You can even order one on an app now!

Yes, it may be a little more risky than taking a taxi, but if you are looking to get out of your comfort zone, this is one experience you’ll always remember.
