Nok Air Flight DD 108 from Don Mueang Airport to Chiang Rai skidded off the runway Saturday night at 9.06pm while landing amidst heavy rain. There were 169 people on board. No one was injured but some passengers complain about the slow evacuation and said they were stuck inside the plane for nearly an hour with no food, water, slow luggage delivery as well as no clear announcement from the pilot.

Nok Air issued a statement that they have provided food and drinks and took care of passengers' luggage promptly, however.

BANGKOK -- Government spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said on Sunday that over 100,000 tourists from India have travelled to Thailand since the beginning of this year until May 24. Indian tourists became the largest group of foreign tourists and more are expected as the Tourism Authority of Thailand is to promoting the kingdom to Indians, including places like Chiang Mai. Four hundred Indian couples have planned to be wedded in Thailand later this year. From May to September, the government expects an average of 500,000 tourists per month to visit Thailand, a rise from an earlier forecast of 300,000.
