Belvedere Rocks

A sandy track running south off the Rte Zone Touristique near the Dar Charaït Museum leads to the Belvedere Rocks. Steps have been cut into the highest rock, giving access to a spectacular sunset view over the oasis and the chott (salt lake). It’s a pleasant 20-minute walk.

Too much landscaping has taken away somewhat from the beauty of the natural setting, but not entirely; look for the giant Mount Rushmore–like face of face of Tunisia's national poet Abdulkacem Chebbi, who was born in Tozeur (it's hard to miss).

🌐Sidi Bouhlel Canyon

The canyon of Sidi Bouhlel, located in the governorate of Tozeur, is a place where the natives come for the marabout, but also a place where visitors marvel by discovering the different places like the big rock, the source and the marabout. Note, however, that this is not really the place where they will sell you a rug. The place is totally deserted most of the time. We send you a testimony from one of the visitors when he tells us: I spent two half-days in this canyon the only human beings I met were a Tunisian who came to fetch water from the source and a family on a spree who went up to the marabout. You will have the place to yourself, and that's what makes Sidi Bouhlel, of all the filming locations I've visited in Tunisia, my favorite site.

In 2014, the electronic dunes project was born, taking the crazy gamble of investing the site of Ong Jmal, in the middle of the Sahara desert, known worldwide for having hosted the filming of the Star Wars saga. After this successful first edition, the experience was renewed in 2015. During each of these first two editions, more than 8,000 spectators from all over the world gathered for 3 days in this exceptional setting, following the rhythm of 'a program made up of artists from the Tunisian, French and international electronic scenes.

Reputable for its beautiful sunsets, Kerkennah Islands are a group of islands lying off the east coast of Tunisia in the Gulf of Gabès. The Islands are low-lying, being no more than 13 meters above sea level. The main islands are Chergui and Gharbi. The archipelago has an area of 160 square kilometers and a population of 15,501 (2014)
A myth says that God, in molding paradise, rejected what did not suit him; thus, from these rejects of paradise, were born the Kerkennah islands whose diversity is a uniqueness, so harmonious it is, combining the opposites in a rich complementarity. Concretely, in the present day and the daily life of Kerkennah, it is only a question of the unity of which the human sciences speak today, this Unitax multiplex of the ancients. It’s not for nothing, by the way, that the islands are famous for their winds which blow almost all the time at the Kerkennah qualifying point of gusty. Here is what the old people of the islands say about it: when at sunset, the sublime breath traverses the vast sleeping fields, when the last rays of twilight are lost, between vineyards, fig-trees, and palm groves, at the pampered feet of the murmuring women shore waters, spirits are awakening!
