These are the indigenous grapes of Cyprus that are used to produce the traditional sweet wine of Cyprus, the Commandaria. Cyprus has a large number of small-scale winemakers, and especially in the Troodos mountains in the foothills of the Akamas you will find many different variations of modern and dry white Xinisteries 🥂

Why do we find these perfectly preserved mosaics in the Archeological Park in Paphos? Old-Paphos was totally destroyed by an earthquake and a resulting tsunami in the 6th century AD, the city stayed under the rumble until it was discovered only in the 1950ies - accidentally by a farmer plowing his fields!
Today in Paphos we find the finest examples of mosaics in Cyprus that are open to the public until this day. Spectacular mosaics were discovered recently near Akaki inside the buffer zone, the excavation is ongoing and we hope to be able to visit them soon!

Karmi is a picturesque mountain village on the northern slope of the Besparmak Mountains. In the 1950s many British families bought old farmhouses in the village and renovated them, thus, Karmi became a “holiday village”. The village has stunning views over Kyrenia and is the starting point of a demanding but rewarding hike to Hilarion castle 🚶🏻‍♂️

What was the predecessor of Famagusta? 🧐

It was Salamis, the biggest city of ancient times in Cyprus. Salamis existed for almost 2000 years and were covered under the sand dunes of the Famagusta Bay for another 1200 years. Interestingly, the Greek name of Famagusta, Ammochostos, means “hidden in the sand”

Some of customers ask us where local Cypriots like to go to the beach, the near unanimous answer is Iskele/Trikomo. Many miles of untouched sandy beaches complemented with white tulips and fantastic greenery. There are also walking and cycling paths, and outdoor gyms, you would be forgiven for thinking that you are in Miami beach! 🏊🏼‍♀️💦

Cyprus offers great road and mountain cycling paths for cycling enthusiasts! 🚴🏻‍♂️

At present, Cyprus is not overcrowded with cyclists - especially the Karpaz area with new roads and less traffic - and is a paradise for road cycling training camps!

Kourion is the best-presented ancient city in Cyprus. Situated west of Limassol, it controlled access to the copper mines in the Troodos Mountains from the south coast. Today, the site is worth an extensive visit, and even those, who are not so into history, will enjoy the magnificent landscape and the accoustic raffinese of the well-preserved theatre 🎭
