The formal prize-giving took place at TTAL's Scarborough Headquarters, where Interim Chief Executive Officer at TTAL, Phillip Robinson awarded Phil Williamson and his wife the grand prize, alongside Zolani Frank of Zee Birding hikes and Nature tours. who sponsored a birdwatching tour to further support the prize.
As they prepared to embark on the journey of a lifetime, Williamson shared his excitement with being in Tobago:
"We're really bird watchers and obviously Tobago is very rich in birds, so we're looking forward to seeing a lot of birds with Zolani, our guide. And obviously the lovely beaches. Tobago is just a really interesting place with so much to do on a relatively small island, lots of nice restaurants...we're looking forward to having a really nice time."
With its lush forests, mangrove swamps and rich coastal habitats, Tobago is a naturally welcoming landscape for a vast variety of native and migratory birds. The bananaquit, or sugarbird, is known to join visitors a their breakfast tables, you may wake up to the chorus of the tropical mockingbird singing, or catch a glimpse of the strikingly beautiful plumage of the blue-crowned motmot. In Tobago, birdlife is everywhere you look and TTAL remains committed to showcasing these authentic experiences to the world ✨.
