Our visit to the historic Schœlcher Library was nothing short of amazing! As a group, we made a donation of Trinbagonian book publications to the their Children's section as well as their West Indiana collection. They were happily received!

Special thanks to all the authors and organizations that partnered with us to make this possible.

And fun fact, I think that we replicated a bit of history here by sharing our Trinidad and Tobago literary culture with the Martinican people just as Victor Schoelcher ( the abolitionist who bequeath his books to the library) would have done 137 years ago!

This was a momentous ocassion.

Meet Levi! He was stoked to finally venture outside of Trinidad and fortunately, with some of his school mates.

One thing that stood out to me from Levi is his insatiable desire to learn more. He soaked up every, single experience. Always armed with questions and observations, he made the best of the trip!

On a separate note, I happen to teach him privately and the trip gifted Levi a quantum leap in his fluency for French. At just 16 years old, he has developed a firm grasp in being able to communicate with ease, poise and clarity.

We are extremely proud of his growth!

For our post departure meeting, one of the things the participants enjoyed the most and wanted more of was...THE SHOPPING!

They shoped till they dropped! 🤣 Whether it was at the local craft markets or artisan villages the shopping mall, duty free outlets or even the streets, boy were they ever eager to use their French and shop!

Thanks to all the wonderful persons who have liked and followed us! Blessings!

Allow to share something from my heart.

Airports have had a particularly interesting impact on my life. In a sort of way though, some visits were actually sad and might I even add traumatic.

It was at an airport, I met my dad wheeling out on a wheelchair into my life . Or when I couldn't restrain the reservoirs of tears of my mom's hasty departure (from us) to be alongside my dad who underwent a major health crisis- losing the use of his legs.

A few months ago, while at our airport though a special moment happened. While there, I heard the Spirit of God whisper to my heart that He would redeem those soul wrenching moments of pain into purpose and that airports would now be the representation of others taking off into their potential, missions and destiny.

This is the reason why I do Beyond Borders. It is to be a launching pad for young leaders who need the exposure, who need to learn in a different setting, who are ready to go to the next level, who are ready to take the world by storm!

Each of those students pictured below will SOAR!

Let's zoom into the International Learning Experiences.

On our recent trip, while in Barbados we took participants to experience archery! Besides it being a team bonding experience, it primed them well for our Lunch 'n Learn session, where we invited Dellison Charles to speak with the group.

Dellison, a Trini living in Barbados lead an insightful conversation on advancing careers in foreign languages as he shared on how mastering French and Spanish gave him the extra edge in landing his current job.

He also gave a range of tips on how the students could take their language learning to the next level - of course many of which they utilized while on the trip to French-speaking Martinique.
