Tobago's proud tradition of excellence in the Caribbean Tourism Organization's (CTO) Regional Tourism Youth Congress continues, with 15-year-old, Bishopโ€™s High School student, Miss Anthurium Lewis, placing second (2nd) at this yearโ€™s competition. The event, held in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands, on September 5th, 2024, saw 12 young representatives from various Caribbean nations, each presenting their perspectives on critical tourism topics.

Anthurium captivated judges and attendees alike with her forward-thinking speech on the "Blue Economy." In her presentation, she introduced three imaginative projects: the Digital Underwater Heritage Museum, a virtual reality platform that showcases Tobagoโ€™s submerged marine history; the Marine Miracle Project, which explores transforming sargassum into biodegradable plastics; and the Tobago Blue Guardian, an AI-powered marine monitoring system designed to safeguard Tobagoโ€™s waters. These visionary projects illustrate how innovation can support environmental sustainability and responsible tourism development in the future.

The Division of Tourism, Culture, Antiquities and Transportation strongly condemns the misinformation being shared in the public domain regarding the redevelopment of the Store Bay Beach Facility.

As one of the island's flagship beaches, this facility is long overdue for upgrade and enhancement, and through the Division, the administration signalled the intent to pay special attention to this flagship facility during its tenure. In the July/August vacation period of 2023, surveys were conducted by E-IDCOT to garner public and stakeholder views on how the facility can be improved. These responses were used to create a conceptual rendering of the redesigned facility, and this was unveiled first to the immediate stakeholders, including tenants, staff, and other users.
