Today is the second day of the Chinese New Year. 🧧
On this day, ppl need to visit the wife/mom’s parents. In Chinese we say “回娘家” (Go back to wife’s original family). 🙋🏻‍♀️
The other good thing is during CNY Taipei is very calm and empty. 😊 Perfect for bike riding. 👍🚲

Dihua street - Back to the end of 19th century. 😊

This is a famous painting painted by a famous artist who is born in Japanese colony time - 郭雪湖 (Kuo xue hu).

Dihua street was the most important street in Taipei. With lots of businesses going on.

It was also the richest area in Taipei. 👍At that time the whole Taipei has only 5 cars🚗🚗🚙🚙🚙, and in this painting has 2 of them in Dihua street!🚗🚗

Fruit stands are everywhere! Now it’s the end of mango season, so the mango is not as sweet as before. But passion fruit, dragon fruit, pomelo, and papaya are on the season now! 😋

Summertime (July-September) is the typhoon season in Taiwan. Depends on how strong the typhoon is, sometimes we can have a “typhoon day off”, cause it’s too dangerous to go outside. 💨☔️🌪

The other side of the river is New Taipei City. It’s the biggest city in Taiwan with 5 million people living there (Taipei city has 2.5 million residents). 😀
Ride the bike along the river, enjoy the view of New Taipei City. It’s one of the best trail for cycling in Taipei. 🚴🏽‍♀️

Dragon boat Festival is coming! 🛶 “Zongzi” is one kind of dumplings wrapped by bamboo leaves and we eat it on dragon beat festival. 😋
In the old time people make zongzi at home by themselves, now you can buy it on the market as well. 😋👍

Forty four village is one of the oldest military village in Taipei. Old village and new fantastic 101 together make a perfect picture spot. 📷
There is a weekend market, an old house coffee shop, and a bagel bakery. 🥯☕️
Sit on the hill, have a cup of coffee, and watch the view. That’s a perfect start for the day. ☀️🤗

Private Tour - all the way to Tamsui there is a perfect river side bike trail. 🚴🏽‍♀️ We passed the biggest mangrove forest in Taiwan. 🌱
This type of mangrove has adapted to the salty waters that wash in with the tides. 🌊
This fascinating environment is also full of wild life - various birds, insects and over 30 kinds of crabs. 🦀

Taiwan Presidential Building was built in Japanese colonial period for Governor-General from Japan in 1919. Now it is Taiwanese president’s office. 🇹🇼🇯🇵

Manga area was the first business center in Taipei, now it’s the oldest area in the city and has the oldest street - Bopliao. 👆🏽
This street is 200 years old, went through Qing dynasty, Japanese colony, Second World War, Civil war, and it still remain the same look. 😮
It feels like in the time machine when you walk through Bopiliao. 🚲😊
