CLIMATE CHANGE AND THE NEW FACE OF TOURISM AFTER COVID.

During the lockdown, the earth experienced a different season. A season of rest. Even though for a short while, it rested. It is to say since the Industrial Age the earth has been going through drastic change and unfortunately not towards a cleaner, greener and safer earth.

With each new revolution age the earth has been sinking deeper and deeper into a climate problem, and right before our eyes we are faced with the challenge of; Will our planet still be here for our children and their children? Will it be a safe place to live?

I think history should mark the year 2019 as the year were everything changed. Consequently 2020 as the year were we entered into a new era, all together everywhere in the world. It is the year 2020 that the world stood still and we had a chance to re-evaluate our lives and our planet which we call home.

We all were waiting for everything to go back to normal again so as we may go out and see the places we wanted to see and experience all that we had missed. The question is ‘Do we go back to the way we travelled before COVID -19?’.

I do not mean not wearing masks and not getting vaccinated. What I mean is making the same choices as we did before. Do we still choose the same popular tourist destinations? The ones that encourage mass tourism? Do we still sit compacted at the same beaches? Do we still come with plastic? Do we still litter?

What is our contribution towards a greener earth, even in our travel choices? With that question we can answer all the other questions. No, we should not go back to the way we travelled before COVID-19. During the two years lockdown many natural parts of the earth experienced a time of rest and rejuvenation.

The ecology of many places was slowly being restored from the damage that was made by too much human disruption. If these places became better so should we. We should not be so eager to take it back to where it was before.

Let us make new choices, let us go slow. In fact slow has been proven to be good for the earth and good for the rest of us as well. Let us work towards reducing our own carbon footprint on the earth even as we travel. Let us make conscious choices to go where the crowd is less and do less damage.

Let us travel in a sustainable way, to leave more good to the places we visit that take from it. Let us choose greener options and control the amount of waste we choose to make even in the destination we visit. Let us support the ones who are making an effort to a ecological friendly tourism.

I believe the new face of tourism amid climate change is

COVID -19 and Travel in Tanzania, East Africa.

According to Tanzania Online Visa website www.tanzaniaonlinevisa.com ,travelers can rest assured that preventative measures were and are continued to be implemented on all inbound and outbound travelers to and from Tanzania.

As travel restrictions have been eased and more and more travelers are making their way to Tanzania, check points at Airports do require proof of PCR COVID-19 test as well as Vaccination Certificate indicating Full Vaccination.

Please do not be scared off by propaganda and scare messages concerning Africa as if one big country. Africa is a very large geographical segmented continent with countries without free flow of movement with each other but strict control at the borders, seas and ports.

Hence no case of monkey pox has been reported in Tanzania. Travelers can be eased of worry against contracting monkey pox when travelling to or from Tanzania.

As with the regions that receive most tourists which are North of Tanzania; Kilimanjaro and Arusha where most of the tourist destinations are, have received the most numbers of vaccinations and still practicing COVID -19 preventative measures especially in hotels and public places.

Otherwise you need not to worry if at all you are fully vaccinated and have even received booster jabs, put on your sunscreen, wear your happy spirits and enjoy a vacation to Tanzania.

In the movie Black Panther there are majestic dressed women warriors known as the Dora Milaje whom the inspiration of their customs came from the Maasai Tribe of East Africa. The bright red ‘Shuka’ of the Maasai is a remarkable emblem of the tribes of Tanzania.

The Maasai people at the North of Tanzania who are also in Kenya are warriors who were famous for hunting lions with just a spare. A tradition that is no longer in practice but still honors the mighty Maasai.

When in Tanzania you will be able to see so many inspirations from the Maasai tribe traditions. They have been generous enough to share their culture and so make themselves a cultural flag that flies high.

On the other far end at the coasts of Zanzibar are the ‘Waswahili’ who have a general name of all the tribes at the coast ‘Sahel’. This is because of the language that they first spoke as a mix of Arabic, Indian and native language This mix gave birth to the Swahili language and by trade it spread to the whole county of Tanzania.

The marriage of the Arabic culture and native culture is like poetry. It’s like stepping into the Aladdin movie while in Zanzibar. Truly a fantastic place to see and be.

More than , Tanzania is a melting pot of cultures who are guardians of the vast plains of the and the , the , , and many more.

Get to know about Tanzania.

Tanzania is home to upto 60M people of different ethnicities and tribes. Even though there are so much diversity in Tanzania the people have chosen to speak ‘Kiswahili’ or ‘Swahili’ as its official language.

It is a land rich in natural resources and culture. It boasts of ‘Serengeti National Park’ which is a UNESCO world heritage site as well as frequently awarded as ‘The best National Park in the World’. It is the gem of Tanzania: The endless plains.

Tanzania is not all lions and Zebras, because just to it’s East it borders the Indian Ocean and hence its Lucious beaches are a site for sore eyes. Tanzania is home to the famous Zanzibar Islands which as also known as ‘The spice islands’. It’s here also where you learn of the caravan trade of humans that shaped the history of mankind.

Tanzania is also home to the highest free standing mountain in Africa: Mount Kilimanjaro. Which attracts millions of climbers who seek to feel at the top of Africa. Mount Kilimanjaro is the pride of Tanzania, that’s why Tanzania Company Limited boasts to be ‘the wings of Kilimanjaro’

Along the rivers and the creeks, the lakes and the forests of Tanzania are other beautiful places that Tanzania is known for or yet to be known for. It has so much to offer and so much to explore. It’s the place like no other in Africa, truly
