THE MIGRATION ITINERARY!!

Every month of May, in a circular pattern which is repeated without fail since the world is world, two million and a half of herbivores, mostly wildebeest, accompanied by antelopes and zebras, commence a journey of several months from the grasslands in the south of Serengeti to the Masai Mara reserve in the north.

South Serengeti
The wildebeest graze scattered out over the enormous grasslands of south Serengeti, where half a million of offspring are born in a period of three weeks. Nearly half of them will not survive this adventure.

North Serengeti
As soon as the rainy season finalises the animals form large herds and begin to move northeast, to the area of the river Grumeti, where they wait for the best moment to cross because the grass on this side is beginning to dry up.

Close to the river Grumeti
The high point of the migration: the large herds gather with fear and urgency on the banks of the river Grumeti. The animals, pursued by depredators, face the river and its crocodiles until all of them cross it, in the space of one week.

Masai Mara
The column of animals covers the last 64 kilometers crossing the frontier with Kenya until it arrives at the Masai Mara reserve, where fresh pastures await and where they graze until the end of the dry season.

South Serengeti
With the first rains with their young stronger, the herds commence their way back south on a return journey of a month towards the grasslands where everything commenced.

ITINERARY & BRIEF!!

You will be picked up from your lodge by our consultant guide at a pre specified time
to arrive at our launch area by approximately 6am. This gives you enough time to enjoy
some hot Tanzanian coffee with home made and authentic cookies. During this time the Pilot will brief you on the safety measures,
launch & landing procedure, safety belts, and what to expect while the balloon is being inflated. Witness the sky changing colours with the peering sun while you look on the balloon inflation.

When the Captain feels all is ready for you to board he will signal to commence boarding as per briefing. The basket is on its side while you board and will stand up right just before taking off. (depending on weather sometimes we load while the basket is upright) *Launch is dependent on weather
Just after you elevate from the ground, you most probably will enjoy a great African sunrise (depending on weather).
During the flight you will have a birds eye uninterrupted view of the vast plains of
Serengeti, and you will understand why they call it endless plains. The pilot will try to spot wildlife for you and lower the balloon for better viewing. He may also rise the balloon for better speed / direction and also for some amazing views. Enjoy the tranquil glide where you hear every little sound. You can still enjoy hot coffee with cookies during the flight, which usually lasts 1 hour, plus or minus 15mins depending on the weather.

Landing is a smooth and soft as the flight it self. Once you disembark, you will enjoy a champagne celebration with a little history on how the tradition came to be. After this you will be driven to our carefully selected bush breakfast area, welcomed by our butlers to enjoy a scrumptious plated breakfast.
* be sure to give us any dietary requirements before hand so we can cater for you.

After your breakfast, you will be issued with your certificates, take some photos and then you to meet up with your guide to continue with your road itinerary.

Arusha National Park, although smaller than most in Tanzania, has a range of habitats that consist of the forest of Mount Meru, Ngurdoto Crater in the southeast section of the park, and Momela Lakes, a series of seven crater lakes. Black and white Colobus monkeys are easily spotted in the forested area while the marshy floor of the crater is dotted with herds of buffalo, zebra and warthog.
