Come safari with us this coming Spring 2024!
Did you know that while April and May are low season, these months are actually a great time to do game drives?

Here are the perks of travelling in April-May:

🐘 Less dust, as it is technically the rain season, but the rain in the bush is very sporadic, and on most days, it rains mainly in the early morning and evenings. While you could experience some rain and drizzle during the day, you’d be surprised how refreshing it is to go out during this period of time!

🦓 If you’re not a fan of being surrounded of dozens of jeep whenever you stop for game, then this is the ideal time to visit Tanzania! Skip the crowd and enjoy the park to yourselves.

🦒 Lastly, you can take full advantage of the low season rates, when safari accommodation often offer 30-50% discount from their regular peak season rates!

Contact us today by DM or email [email protected] to inquire how to book a low season safari!

💡Did you know? A lioness will typically keep her cubs hidden from other lions for around six weeks until they are old enough to follow the pride. - any younger and they wouldn’t be able to keep up and could get lost!

Additionally, if there are older cubs already in the pride, the mother must wait until her cubs are about three months old before introducing them. This is because cubs often bully the smaller cubs and steal their milk, so they need to be big enough to fend for themselves! 🦁

s h e ’ s t h e b o s s !

When a lion receives his mating call to duty, he has to muster up all his stamina to satisfy his lioness - and when a lioness is in heat and looking to mate, she calls all the shots. Much as it is with other big cats, she decides when, where and how often mating will take place.

On average, a pair will mate every 20 minutes for 4 days and nights with each about lasting one minute! 👀

💡 Did you know? Unlike lions and tigers that usually live to 10-15 years, spotted hyenas often can get into their 20s in the wild, making them some of the longest living terrestrial carnivores. The longest recorded living spotted hyena was in captivity and lived to 41 years and 1 month old! 😱

💡 Did you know? While male lions tolerate their own and other cubs in the pride, they generally tend to show little affection towards them.

Males also play no role in providing food or teaching cubs to hunt, leaving that to the mothers. However, while they don’t look after the cubs and take no part in helping raising the young, they do protect the whole pride against danger. Cubs are safe as long as their father is in charge of the pride! 🦁

PS: We hope all the dads out there had an awesome Father’s Day! 💛💛

A majestic ✨king✨ 🦁

💡 Did you know? Females have shown a preference for lions with dark manes over light manes - even if the dark hair was significantly shorter. A dark mane is apparently a marker the lioness uses to evaluate the fitness of a male, as these dark-maned male lions generally have a higher level of testosterone -which means they are more aggressive fighters and can scare off potential rivals and keep their cubs safe! 💪🏻

🦁Band of Brothers🦁

💡Did you know? Male lions will sometimes live in coalitions - a group of two or more (and sometimes up to seven) male lions, often brothers, half-brothers, or cousins who grew up in the same pride, who’ve decided to band together. Occasionally, non-related males will also form a coalition.

These lions often form strong bonds with one another and will put their combined might behind gaining and maintaining territory.

💡Did you know? The Cape Buffalo is also notoriously known as “Black Death” and can be extremely dangerous - they are said to have killed more big game hunters than any other animal in Africa. When wounded, they become aggressive and angry, remembering the encounter and even seeking revenge on the hunter. Many stories are told about how they ambush hunters that have wounded them during hunting expeditions - definitely not an animal to cross! 🐃
