As the Festive Season is all about giving and the generosity of spirit, we wanted to showcase our continued support with some of the projects that we are a part of. 💚🐾

Spotlight on the Emusoi Center in Arusha where we encourage the discovery of potential for young woman of the Tanzania hunter-gatherer communities, providing them with secondary education, vocational training, diplomas and university degrees.

We also have our Serengeti De-snaring project, the Masai community Olmati clinic, as well as the Kianda Foundation - which is a Children’s health program in Nairobi.

Last but not least - we also contribute to the Wildlife Management areas in Tarangire and West Kilimanjaro as well as the Tanzania National Parks in the Serengeti with camps and lodges consisting of 269 rooms.

Nothing expresses a Safari Adventure, like the mighty African lion pride in its natural splendor. 🦁 🐾 💚

The dominant male in its unmatched strength and power, lazily keeps an eye out for its family while the cubs play and wrestle with each other. The females do most of the hunting and they are incredibly efficient at that, working in a group to bring down small and large game.

We’re very happy to announce that Tanzania has the highest population of lions in Africa, with an estimated 14000 -15000 lions inhabiting the country.

The Blue Wildebeest 💚

One of the most iconic animals of the great migration is the distinct single-file appearance of the blue wildebeest as well as their wild gauntlet run through the crocodile-infested waters of the Serengeti.

They are a large antelope with both male and female wildebeest having horns but the male having significantly larger horns. The adults have a blue sheen to their coats, thereby giving them their name.

They have a yearly ‘rut’ or mating season and the females give birth generally at the same time over a two to three-week period. The gestation period is approximately 8 and a half months and a single calf is born.

Blue wildebeest love to hang out with zebras so it's not uncommon to find them happily grazing with their striped friends. Zebras enjoy the longer and coarser grasses while the wildebeest enjoy the shorter grasses. Zebras also have excellent eyesight which is a great advantage for predator detection as everything generally wants to eat them!

The mighty African elephant...🐘

Expect to see many herds of the majestic African Bush Elephant while staying with us at Tanganyika Wilderness Camps.

The largest African elephant ever recorded in Tanzania weighed in at a hefty 8000kg or 17600 pounds. This record-breaking specimen likely grew to this enormous size due to a rare combination of genetics, abundance of food and old age.

Tanzania harbours one of Africa's most significant remaining elephant populations, with only a larger population being found in Botswana.

It always feels like such a privilege to be able to observe the grace (for their size) and majesty of these beautiful and immensely powerful animals.
