Africa is home to TWO wolf species, not only one and this little-known one was once worshipped as an ancient god. In a region of Senegal it is still believed to be the first creature created by the god, Roog (A supreme god -- the creator of that region):

STILL, STILL and yet again, still, I read supposed front-runners in "factual" wildlife info. repeating the same stuff-- 'Africa is home to only one type of wolf'. C'mon, I am not up there in the forefront of divulging wildlife info., but even myself, and a few others, are aware of this basic fact so what is up with you guys????

For one, this is why people are convinced Africa is home to only one wolf species-- the highly endangered Ethiopian wolf. We cannot help wildlife if we do not know about them.... any animal. This info. is readily available AND IT'S GENERATED FROM HARD, COLD SCIENTIFIC FACTS. Repeat; we cannot help animals without the correct BASIC facts and these facts I posted about, a few times over, already, but will remind once again to help interested people know better.

Africa is home to another smaller wolf species often mistaken for a jackal -- the African golden wolf. Found in North, East, West Africa, the Horn of Africa and the Sahel region (an area of land where the humid Sudanese savannas meets the dry Saharan desert in the North). This canid was and is mistaken for a type of jackal but through DNA and other scientific research we know it is not a jackal -- not even a little bit. Going by this research we got these scientific results; this canid is all wolf, and no jackal DNA. Let's hit you with some more hard facts detailing these findings: 72% grey wolf and 28% Ethiopian wolf ancestry.

* It can breed with jackals and that is a problem. It was once considered a sacred animal in Egypt and some other African cultures -- once, a really important animal in African folklore. Sadly, it has now been 'demoted' and this sacred and important animal is reduced to the pest-status. This canid is hunted and killed, or just killed outright and poached for body-parts still used in Traditional, African medicine. It is not yet endangered but I use the word 'yet' as their population is declining due to that indiscriminate hunting/poaching and the dilution of their unique gene-pool by breeding with jackals but please people, be aware of Africa's other wolf.

When Royalty Roars, Silence Falls.

This isn’t a yawn.
This is a sonic signature of power — the lion’s roar.

One of the loudest calls in the animal kingdom, a lion’s roar can be heard up to 8 kilometers (5 miles) away.
It’s not a warning. It’s a declaration — of territory, dominance, and unchallenged rule.

Those 30 teeth? Designed to pierce hide and snap bone.
That mane? Nature’s armor — both for battle and for boasting.

He’s not the fastest.
He’s not the biggest.
But he’s the only one the wild calls King.

Because in the savanna, volume is victory — and no one roars louder than him.

KILIMANJARO: 7-Day LEMOSHO ROUTE TREK to the SUMMIT - with Tanzania Wildcats Safaris

Venture on a 7-day trek to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route, widely considered to be the best route on Mount Kilimanjaro, for beginner and experienced hikers alike. During this experience, explore stunning views and roaming wildlife on this route selected for its ease of acclimatization, diverse range of climate zones, on your way to the top of Africa's highest peak. Tanzania Wildcats 🇹🇿
Day 1:
• Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp
• Elevation (ft): 7,800ft to 9,500ft
• Distance: 6 km
• Hiking Time:3-4 hours
• Habitat: Rain Forest
We depart Moshi for Londorossi Gate, which takes about 4 hours, where you will complete entry formalities. Then drive to the Lemosho trailhead (another hour to reach the trailhead). Upon arrival at trailhead, we eat lunch, then commence through undisturbed forest which winds to the first camp site.
DAY 2:
• Forest Camp to Shira Camp 1
• Elevation (ft): 9,500ft to 11,500ft
• Distance: 8 km
• Hiking Time 5-6 hours
• Habitat: Moorland
We continue on the trail leading out of the forest and into a savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards. As we ascend through the lush rolling hills and cross several streams, we reach the Shira Ridge before dropping gently down to Shira 1 camp. The view of Kibo from across the plateau is amazing.
DAY 3:
• Shira Camp 1 to Shira 2 to Moir Hut
• Elevation (ft): 11,500ft to 13,800 ft
• Distance: 14 km
• Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
• Habitat: Moorland
We explore the Shira plateau for a full day. It is a gentle walk east toward Kibo’s glaciered peak, across the plateau which leads to Shira 2 camp on moorland meadows by a stream. Then we continue to Moir Hut, a little used site on the base of Lent Hills. A variety of walks are available on Lent Hills making this an excellent acclimatization opportunity. Shira is one of the highest plateaus on earth.
DAY 4:
• Moir Hut to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
• Elevation (ft): 13,800ft to 13,000ft
• Distance: 7 km
• Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
• Habitat: Semi Desert
From the Shira Plateau, we continue to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo. As we continue, our direction changes to the South East towards the Lava Tower, called the “Shark’s Tooth.” Shortly after the tower, we come to the second junction which brings us up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 16,000ft. We now continue down to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 13,000ft. Here we rest, enjoy dinner, and overnight. Although you end the day at the same elevation as when you started, this day is very important for acclimatization and will help your body prepare for summit day.
DAY 5:
• Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
• Elevation (ft): 13,000ft to 15,000ft
• Distance: 9km
• Hiking Time: 8-10 hours
• Habitat: Alpine Desert
After breakfast, we leave Barranco and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite. Then, we leave Karanga and hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail. We continue up to the Barafu Hut. At this point, you have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we make camp, rest, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the summit day. The two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be seen from this position.
DAY 6:
• Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Hut
• Elevation (ft): 15,300ft to 19,345ft (and down to 10,000ft)
• Distance: 5 km ascent / 12 km descent
• Hiking Time: 7-8 hours ascent / 4-6 hours descent
• Habitat: Arctic
Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), we continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This is the most mentally and physically challenging portion of the trek.
At Stella Point (18,600 ft), you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From Stella Point, you may encounter snow all they way on your 1-hour ascent to the summit. At Uhuru Peak, you have reached the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro and the continent of Africa. Faster hikers will see the sunrise from the summit.
From the summit, we now make our descent continuing straight down to the Mweka Hut camp site, stopping at Barafu for lunch. You will want gaiters and trekking poles for the loose gravel going down. Mweka Camp is situated in the upper forest and mist or rain can be expected in the late afternoon. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep.
DAY 7:
• Mweka Camp to Moshi
• Elevation (ft): 10,000ft to 5,400ft
• Distance: 10 km
• Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
• Habitat: Rain Forest
After breakfast, we continue the descent down to the Mweka Park Gate to receive your summit certificates. At lower elevations, it can be wet and muddy. Gaiters and trekking poles will help. Shorts and t-shirts will probably be plenty to wear (keep rain gear and warmer clothing handy).
From the gate, you continue another hour to Mweka Village. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka village to drive you back to hotel in Moshi/Arusha.

THE GREAT SERENGETI MIGRATION ROUTES 11 DAYS
NORTHERN Tanzania Wildcats Safaris CIRCUIT.

Summary Itineraries. Tanzania Wildcats 🇹🇿

Just the mention of the name ‘Serengeti’ conjures images in one’s mind, whether real or imagined. This safari allows you to witness the very best of Tanzania. You will revel in all the wildlife viewing opportunities on the fabled plains of the Serengeti, around Lake Manyara, through Tarangire and on the floor of the Ngorongoro Crater. The reality of this Tanzanian wildlife adventure is simply awe-inspiring.

Tour Highlights:
Observe the more subtle nuances of wildlife behaviour. Explore all the great wildlife regions of northern Tanzania: Manyara, Tarangire, Ngorongoro and the famed Serengeti. Discover the smaller denizens of the bush on a thrilling walking safari, where you can learn the ancient skills of tracking and identifying spoor. Descend into the most unique caldera in the world: Ngorongoro Crater often called the Eden of Africa.

Wildebeest Migration Seasons:
The Wildebeest Migration in East Africa, also known as “The Great Migration” takes place between Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park and Kenya’s Masai Mara and is one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on the planet. Thousands of wildebeest and zebra’s migrate between the Serengeti and the Masai Mara, constantly driven by their search for fresh grazing. The massive herds are closely followed by predators (lion, hyena and cheetah), making the most of every opportunity to catch their next meal.

The precise timing of the annual wildebeest migration depends on the rains. It is a very unpredictable and spontaneous natural event, with calving season taking place in the Serengeti between January and mid-March. The wildebeest migration starts to head towards the Western Serengeti in May or June.

The best time to see the migration is generally between June and August when the wildebeest congregate and prepare to cross the famous Grumeti River. If you are in the Masai Mara you can expect the wildebeest to make their arrival as early as July, but they generally arrive between August & September and remain in the Masai Mara between October & November. Between the end of November and January the wildebeest gradually begin their migration from the Masai Mara back towards the Serengeti.

Mahale Mountains National Park, www.Tanzaniawildcats.com

Beside Lake Tanganyika in western Tanzania, Mahale Mountains National Park is arguably the best place to track Africa’s last remaining wild chimpanzees.
There are around a thousand living here in the lowland forests, including the habituated Mimikere or ‘M’ group.
But reaching them is no easy task: the journey involves a steep and strenuous climb through dense vegetation. As Tanzania’s most remote national park, Mahale Mountains has no roads and is only reachable by boat or chartered flight.
