INTRODUCTION
MEMPHIS INSPECTION (G.A) COMPANY LTD was incorporated in Tanzania in 2010. It was established by the former staff of COTECNA Tanzania Ltd with aim of undertaking the commercial inspection activities of the later after it cease to operate in Tanzania. The main objective is as follows:
• To continues providing services
to former Cotecna Tanzania Ltd clients in the same accrued standards, skills and quality.
• To keep the employment of former Cotecna Tanzania Ltd staff using their long experience in the field of shipping industry and international trade flow at the present stiff competition in the labour market due to global economic meltdown (economic crisis).
• To turn the closure of the COTECNA Tanzania Ltd as the challenge and opportunity in business development. The core activity of the MEMPHIS INSPECTION (G.A) COMPANY LTD is inspection and monitoring in connection with trade and shipping by providing a comprehensive package of services in the following activities:
Agricultural services
Weighing, sampling, analysis, supervision of vessel discharge & loading, container loading & unloading, tally, weight & quality certificate, loss or damage surveys and monitoring of agricultural products and by-products. All the above services for exported and imported goods, transit and inland services. Mineral Services
• Sampling, supervision of loading, discharge, trans-shipment, determination of weight and quality, inspection of packing material for marking, soundness.
• Verification of quality is performed in a third party laboratory and depend on client instructions either local mineral laboratory or client selected laboratory. Petroleum and Petrochemicals Services
• Supervision of oil discharge and loading, control of quantity and volume, sampling for analysis, tank verification and calibration, monitoring and collateral management of pre-financed goods. Marine, Industrial and Consumer Goods Services
• General vessel surveys, draft surveys, hatch cleanliness and container control, loss and sea damage for cargo assessment, supervision of vessel loading and unloading, stripping and stuffing of containers, wagons, trucks, industrial and consumer goods inspection. Stock Monitoring Services
• A tripartite contract signed by the Financial Institution (the lending bank), the Depositor or Borrower (exporter, trader etc.) The agreement facilitates the depositor to secure the collateral under MICL Stock Monitoring Agreement contract (SMA), hence reducing the risk to the bank by checking the stock level in agreed frequency.
• Or dual Stock Management Agreement, where the supervisor undertake regular inventory of goods in the owner warehouse on monthly basis or upon agreed internal of time. MICL holds no responsibility on storage of goods but only counting the physical stock on agreed arrangement. Collateral Management Agreements
A tripartite contract signed by the Financial Institution (the lending bank), the Depositor or Borrower (exporter, trader etc.) The agreement facilitates the depositor to secure the collateral under MICL contract, hence reducing the risk to the bank. Under a Collateral Management Agreement, the owner of a merchandise inventory surrenders control of his goods to MICL, who in turn is committed to abide exclusively by the instructions of a third party (a lender) with regards to this stock. Monitoring of Emergency Aid, Programme Aid (financial support to balance of payment) and Project Aid. Our reports assess the efficiency and effectiveness of Donor funded programme implementation with a high degree of quality and neutrality. MEMPHIS INSPECTION (G.A) COMPANY LTD - MICL is working to be member of the International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA), Grain and Feed Trade Association (GAFTA), and the Federation of Oils, Seeds and Fats Associations (FOSFA), which set quality standards, sampling rules, etc. for most grains and oilseeds traded around the world.
