Lions are carnivorous animals and are at the top of the food chain in their habitats. They primarily feed on large ungulates like zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, and gazelles. Lions hunt in groups called prides, usually led by females. Their hunting strategy involves stealth and teamwork to ambush and overpower their prey. After a successful hunt, they consume their prey at the site or drag it to a more secluded spot to avoid competition from scavengers like hyenas and vultures.
