MAKARAGOSI ARE BACK!!

Makaragosi are puppets. Back in the day in Zanzibar there were great puppet shows held at Mnazi Mmoja park during Eid al Fitr. The art died out sometime during the 60s, but Creative Solutions Mangapwani is working to revive the shows!

Together with Aida Ayers Zanzibari/Norwegian playwright Issak Esmail Issak presents “Ruya and Rabia”. A tale of two sisters set in Makunduchi in the 1930’s. The performance combines live actors and puppets on stage together in this funny, enchanting performance.
