A lil bit of our sundowner experience right at the heart of Arusha!

After a day filled with adventure and exploration, immerse yourself in the magic of the forest as the sun begins its graceful descent.

The excitement builds as you gather with fellow adventurers at a secluded spot, anticipation hanging in the air like a whispered promise. Sip on refreshing drinks and savor delectable pastries as you watch the sky transform into a canvas of vibrant colors, the setting sun casting a warm glow over the landscape.

In this moment, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the company of newfound friends, time seems to slow down, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the moment. As darkness falls and the stars emerge overhead, the anticipation for the bush dinner only grows stronger, promising an evening of culinary delights under the canopy of the forest.

With each sip of your drink and every bite of pastry, you're reminded of the magic that awaits, a taste of the exquisite experience that lies ahead.

This is the Sundowner by Nisimulie Africa – a captivating journey into the heart of nature, where every moment is filled with wonder and possibility.

Scorched to death

These grim images are a snippet into the real life representation of a nationwide catastrophe facing Kenya at the moment. Lifeless body after lifeless body lines the scorched earth of southern Kenya, as red dust kicks up over the latest co**se fast drying out in the blazing heat. Elephants, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, cattle and buffalos are littered across the east African country's plains, and the co**ses are continuing to pile higher and higher due to lack of rain to provide fresh food sources for the animals. This is the worst recorded drought in the last 40 years in this part of Africa with some parts of the country have not seen a drop of rain upwards of 20 months and three years. The main hit has been on the devastating impact on its wildlife, with an estimated 2.5million livestock killed this year alone.

The impact of the infamous drought is also responsible for nationwide civil unrest. An estimated 2.1 million Kenyans are facing starvation due to severe drought across half the state. Water sources for both people and livestock have dried up, forcing families to walk longer distances and causing tensions among communities, which has led to an increase in inter-communal conflict. Many are forced to sell away their land at throw away prices so they can relocate to ‘greener pastures’.

Such images expose new and ongoing challenges of survival that both Humans and wildlife face because of climate change. More frequent and intense global drought, storms, heat waves, rising sea levels, melting glaciers and warming oceans can directly harm animals and plants, destroy the places they live, and wreak havoc on people’s livelihoods and communities.

To avoid the worst effects of climate change, we need to dramatically reduce global carbon emissions. But we must also prepare for the significant and unavoidable consequences of carbon emissions such as increasing temperatures, shifting precipitation patterns, ocean acidification, sea level rise and the increasing intensity and frequency of extreme weather events.

In commemoration of the life of our nation's founding father, Mwl Julius Kambarage Nyerere, we iterate the words he left us in the Arusha manifesto of 1961...

"In accepting the trusteeship of our wildlife, we solemnly declare that we will do everything in our power to make sure that our children's grand children will be able to enjoy this rich and precious inheritance."

"The conservation of wildlife and wild places calls for specialist knowledge, trained manpower and money and we look to other nations to cooperate in this important task - the success or failure of which not only affects the continent of Africa but the rest of the world as well."

But Later:

"I personally am not very interested in animals. I do not want to spend holidays watching crocodiles. Nevertheless, I am entirely in favor of their survival. I believe that after diamonds and sisal, wild animals will provide Tanganyika with its greatest source of income. Thousands of Americans and Europeans have the strange urge to see these animals."

It will definitely be an honour to have our guests hosted in the new as they trail the great wildebeest migration.
