The beauty of nature! Always inspired!🖤

Repost

Wildebeest are large antelopes living in Africa. In the Serengeti / Masai Mara ecosystem, about 1.3 million of them circulate in the great migration, the biggest large mammal migration in the world. The reason for migrating is that they follow the rains for good green grazing. The preferred area to graze at is the extremely nutrient rich short grass plains in south east Serengeti and the Ngorongoro CA. The wildebeest try to synchronise their calving season with when this area is green, this is because the cows need most energy and nutrition when lactating. It it is an amazing sight to see tens or even hundreds of thousands of them at the same time, blackening the plains. In the first image, only about 3,000 can be seen.

A free-standing, snow-covered dormant volcano, majestic Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free standing Mt. in the World.

In 1921, it was designated a forest reserve. In 1973, the mountain above the tree line (about 2,700 meters (8,900 ft)) was gazetted as a national park. The park was declared a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in 1987.

This year we are celebrating 50 years of Kilimanjaro National Park.

Why do zebras have stripes? This has been debated since long and several theories have been made. However, in recent years it has been proven that the stripes deter biting tsetse flies. These flies carry sleeping sickness that equids are particularly sensitive to. The stripes are so efficient that many people who keep horses put stripy coats in their animals to keep horseflies away.
A question still in debate is whether zebras are black with white stripes or the other way around 😉. What's your opinion?

Have you been to Ruaha National Park?
Is it on your bucket list this 2023?

👉🏼Ruaha lies almost directly on a route between Nyerere National Park and Katavi and Mahale Mountains National Parks.
The end point would be Dar es Salaam.

👉🏼This safari would combine the chimps of Lake Tanganyika, the vast flood plains of Katavi, the big game wonders of Ruaha, ending with the lakes and rivers of Nyerere National Park.

Visit Ruaha this year of 2023.

Gorgeous shots by the phenomenal 🖤

Repost from

As most of us know, the cheetah is the fastest of all land animals, reaching speeds of close to 100 km/h (60 mph). There are even reports of them reaching even faster speeds, but these figures are probably exaggerated. Their acceleration is extreme and few sports cars would keep up in the start.
The closest living relatives of the cheetah is the well known puma (cougar) in the Americas, but also the much less known yaguarundi in South- and Central America.
