Termite mounds can extend 10s of meters underground where some species farm mushrooms, have separate chambers for waste and nurseries. Above ground they vary the height of the tower to cool their incredible, underground kingdom. Elephants just see them as bum scratching posts!

Always a pleasure to see the extravagantly adorned Grey Crowned Crane. Omnivorous, they are common around Tarangire.

Everything seems to have thorns in Tanzania! Nearly every Balanites tree seems@to be festooned with these beauties in various sizes. Looking forward to seeing their next incarnation as Cabbage Tree Silk Moths.
