My favourite trail therapy was the view of this lichen covered trees. Looks very alien and cool at the same time. This symbiotic relationship is essential where the lichens get nutrients from the tree and the tree gets some covering provided by the lichen. This lichen is found in the heath and moorland zones and all the way to the alpine zone.
Usnea lichens or Old Man's Beard are indicator species and would help determine the heath of the environment.

Lorrie Hess all the way from the USA you are welcome in Tanzania and at the moment she is climbing Mountain Kilimanjaro. As an experienced hiker she is doing really well and our team is doing the best in supporting this expedition. Brett Davis did it last year but only doing it in a different way that's A Sea To Summit Hike. Kilimanjaro loves you and see you soon.

In-reach for geocaching and orienteering and pulse oxi-meter to keep track of any signs of Acute Mountain sickness. At Stella Point 5756 M ( 1885 ft Amsl) coming down from Uhuru Peak and definitely happy to make it to The Summit. We decided to go for it and do 10 push-ups just to celebrate.
