Shoutout to Emily (), Ben (), Engeniy (), and Julian (.97) for crushing it on Mount Kilimanjaro! These guys came to the mountain ready to give it their all and, on January 11th, 2023, they made it happen. A few of them had a little Diarrhea trouble early on, but a couple doses of Imodium took care of the problem. After a hike up Lava Tower (4,630m/15,190ft), some of the memebers also experienced headaches, a fever, and runny noses, but their guide Oscar had them sipping on ginger tea and taking ibuprofen. Oscar also made sure they drank plenty of water in order to relieve discomfort. Even when oxygen levels were slightly low, among one of the hikers, the team kept a positive attitude. Glad everyone made it to the top safely and are now officially part of the !

Congratulations Ben () for reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro! Ben joined us on a 7-day hike up the Machame route on December 22, 2022. Despite coming across poor weather conditions during the expedition, he still managed to pull through with absolute ease! A challenge Ben faced during his hike was the inability to acclimatize after hikes, which led to slight headaches and minor pressure to his head. Now because Ben was on Acetazolamide (Diamox) and drank plenty of fluids, he was able to go without extreme forms of altitude sickness. That's because the process reduces respiratory alkalosis, associated with high altitude, therefore stimulating breathing in order to take in more oxygen. We are very glad Ben made it to the summit and is a part of the .

Congratulations to Georgiana () and her 16-year-old son, Radu (), on reaching the peak of Kilimanjaro, despite having no prior experience climbing at high altitudes. The pair joined us on a 6-day Machame program on December 3, 2022, which is often hard on many hikers. On day 2, at roughly 3,750m, there were slight headaches and light dizziness, but they immediately subsided with plenty of water. The most difficult part of the overall hike was the descent, when Georgiana felt great pressure on her knees, but thankfully there were trekking poles available to help with support. Descents are frequently underestimated, yet they are one of, if not the, most difficult parts of the hike. Particularly after 4-8 days of nonstop climbing. That said, Georgiana and Radu stayed healthy during their Kilimanjaro trek and were determined to reach the summit from the very start. More importantly, they had a fantastic time during their visit. After the hike, we had great conversations and fun trips around Arusha. We went to museums, visited art galleries, and sample various meats at barbecue joints in Arusha's town center. The crew and the organization are very delighted to welcome Georgiana and Radu to the .

Kimberly (.rosenfield) joined us on August 30, 2022 well conditioned, excited and determined to reach Kilimanjaro’s summit via the 7 day Lemosho program. Though she arrived alone, Kimberly was backed by the support of family and friends who left her motivational voice notes to get her through tough times on the mountain. This gesture is a reflection of who Kimberly is as a person. Not only did she appreciate the efforts made to accomplish one of her life long goals, she also went out of her way to make sure her support team were in good care. It's hikers like Kimberly that make Kilimanjaro expeditions well worth the effort.

Kimberly, we're happy you've joined our and hope to see you again.

Theo () and Andreea (.const25) joined us on a 6 day Machame hike on August 3, 2022 from Romania. Despite being their first time hiking at high altitudes, the couple pulled through without any hiccups. We became familiar with the couple before they arrived in Tanzania and, when they got here, we hit it off with jokes and plenty of stories. We've learned so much about Romania and the couple were amazed at the cultural similarities they share with Tanzania. Trips like these make it a delight to welcome people from different cultural backgrounds. We're happy these two joined our !

Another successful summit in the bag! Isabelle () joined us on July 11, 2022 via the 6 day Machame route. The trip had us all on the edge of our seats since Isabelle was a volunteer in Tanzania and hadn't had the chance to train, acclimatize nor was she fond of diamox. Regardless, this young lady pulled through without losing a pep to her step, while making it look easy. She believes her yoga breathing exercises helped her easily adjust to high elevations. We're proud of her, our support team and, more importantly, our lead guide Oscar for reaching the summit. Welcome to the , Isabelle!

Diane (), Alice (), Rhiannon (), Amit () and Louise ( ) joined us on June 22, 2022 for an 8 day Lemohso hike up Kilimanjaro. I must say, there was not a dull moment with these 5 as they sang, danced and played with our guides and porters. What stood out the most was their care free and down-to-earth attitude throughout their entire trip. This was one of our favorite group thus far and we're glad they've joined our !

Dilli () joined us on June 8, 2022 for a 6 day Machame hike up Kilimanjaro. The trip was straightforward and quick due to Dilli's impeccable fitness and adaptability to high altitudes. This hike, in particular, was full of pranks, stories and an exchange of cultural wisdom. Furthermore, his candid attitude towards our support team has left an unimaginable impression upon our chief guide, Oscar. This is one hiker we'd like to welcome back and are happy he's joined our !

Tim and the crew had a great time. Initially, the young man arrived to attempt the 6-day Marangu program, but after careful consideration, Tim decided to embark on the 7-day Machame hike on January 6, 2022. He went on to complete his tour in 6 days. The immense willpower to push through elevation changes as a first-time hiker was very uplifting. This assures us that the systems we put in place on the mountain not only work, but are so effective that hikers are reaching heights previously unimaginable. Tim is leaving for Zanzibar today, and we are overjoyed that he has joined our team and is now a member of the .

Jelte surprised us all when he opted to complete his 8-day Lemosho hike in just 7 days. He is a living example of the tremendous exploits seen on Kilimanjaro every day, as well as an inspiration to everyone involved in Kili excursions. More importantly, we've connected over great veggie soup, laughter, and amicable chats. Jelte, we hope this isn't your final goodbye. You've joined the and you're always welcome in Tanzania.

Ross is a man of great determination and willpower. On August 18, 2021, he joined us on a seven-day trek up Rongai route.
