Kyiv is getting better and better every year. It is both a comfortable place to live and an unusual city to visit. We might not notice the changes in the capital during the year. However, when we turn back in time and take a long look at them, we will be convinced that lots of significant improvements were made.

Let’s recall some of the changes of the last year that embellished Kyiv and make it even more appealing city to go on a tour of.

𝗣𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 - 𝗯𝗶𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 or Klitschko Bridge is a high overpass that was opened on the Day of Kyiv. The bridge is 210-meters long and 30-meters high and it was designed to connect the St. Volodymyr’s Hill with the Khreshchatyi Park and The People's' Friendship Arch.

🌅The views of the bridge are unrivalled: the Dnipro river, Trukhaniv Island, Podil. The city looks extremely wonderful from here at night when the lights and the bridge itself are lit.

The stone steps found in this place date back to the 10th century and are known as one of the oldest in Kyiv.

The renovated staircase is made of concrete, but the steps themselves, as before, are wooden. The staircase with a length of more than 200 meters consists of 247 steps.

💡In the evening, it is lit due to the LED lighting installed on the banisters.

Observation platforms were also equipped, new benches and bins were installed. There are also WiFi zones, the washroom, and security cameras.

This area near St.Andrew’s Church has been known as the Alley of Artists for a long time.

However, it was renovated in 2019 and become a little larger and now stretches from the Andriyivskyy Descent to the Kyiv funicular. The places with awnings for artists, lighting, cozy benches, four observation platforms, ramps for people with disabilities, and security cameras appeared there.

The Kyiv mayor pointed out that they had done everything possible so that both artists and visitors feel comfortable.

Each country has its own traditions and customs of celebration New Year Holidays. However, an invariable attribute of these festive days is the Christmas Tree 🌟

The main fir tree of Ukraine has been installing at St. Sophia Square in Kyiv for the last six years, and each time it looks different. Let’s recall how it has changed over the last three years!
⠀
🎄This year the main Christmas tree of Ukraine has been decorated with more than eight hundred toys and three kilometers of garlands of warm colors: red, gold and white. The theme of the holiday is the Christmas story about the Nutcracker, so the main characters of the fairy tale will «guard» the New Year’s beauty. The total height of the fir tree is 30 meters.

🎊The decoration of the main Christmas tree of Ukraine for 2019 was the Northern Lights. More than 1.5 thousand toys in the form of silver and white crystals and 3 km of garlands decorated a 25-meter tree. The peculiarity of the Christmas tree was that every day it glowed with a new color.

✨ The main New Year tree in 2018 was a 33-meter fir. It was decorated with lanterns, butterfly toys and 3.6 km of neon garlands.

Despite the fact that the main celebrations take place on Sofiivska Square where the main Christmas tree is installed, New Year in Podil is also worth visiting. Kontraktova Square was transformed into the cozy winter town in ethnic style with thematic installations. Lots of wooden booths with edible and drinkable treats will make your pastime an absolute joy.

🎄 𝗕𝘂𝗸𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿 is located in the very center of the resort near the trout lake. There are lots of shopping rows to purchase authentic handmade gifts and decor, taste highlights of Carpathian cuisine, drink punch and mulled wine. The cultural program complements the fair with diverse live performances of Ukrainian bands, dancing events, discos, and competitions for both adults and children.

🎊 At the beginning of December, VDNG transforms into a winter land (Zymova Kraina) and allows you to find yourself on the pages of a children's book about Christmas.
Among the highlights of Зимова країна на ВДНГ, there is a large open-air skating rink, adorned with the kilometers of shining garlands, tubing slides, the Residence of Santa Claus, tropic farm "The Butterfly Planet”, the Christmas tree toys factory, the Museum of Ice Sculptures, and lots more.

⛸ Roshen Winter Village is a seasonal complex that has a large open-air skating rink ( 2,000 sq.m.) with a Christmas tree in the center, food court with street food, three bars and a cafe. If there is news, well then the world does not stand still. Here are some of the highlights of the previous month we would like to share.

📌 On the territory of Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi railway station in the former luggage compartment, a new artspace was opened in the middle of November. Ukraine WOW | Інтерактивна виставка is the first exposition which allows you to "travel around Ukraine in virtual reality". The exposition covers 3900 sq.m. and is divided into seven semantic blocks.

There are various exhibits collected from all over Ukraine! You will be amazed at the wall made of amber and the installations made of brilliant anthracite, a legendary tunnel of love built in the exhibition space, and a five-meter head of the Motherland Monument.

Wow landscapes, the smells of the steppe and the sound of the sea contribute to a deep immersion and perception of the exhibition.

📌 Ukraine took third place in the ranking of European countries, as a country, where the largest number of coffee houses was opened in 2019. Romania and Kazakhstan took the first and second places. For this year, 16% more coffee houses were opened in Ukraine than in 2018.

Our ancestors adored writing myths. Just remember Greek or Egyptian mythology, which still arises so much interest from the descendants. The tradition has not died and even continues flourishing. However, nowadays there is another type of myths, or it’s better to call them stereotypes about each nation.

If they are French women, it is impossible to imagine them without berets and a glass of wine; Italians are a nation that loves loud feasts and quarrels; Germans have breakfast, lunch, and dinner with sausages and beer.

What about Ukrainians? Let’s discover what the world came up with about us.

📌 Lots of foreigners know that lard (salo) is a traditional Ukrainian food. But they also think for some reason that each meal in the Ukrainian family does not go without lard, and with a glass of horilka sometimes. The majority of Ukrainians can feast on a little lard but some do not eat it at all.

📌 Foreigners often associate Ukraine with the accident in Chornobyl and nothing else. “Are you from Ukraine?
