A CANDIDATE'S ACCOUNT OF THE
BY-ELECTION IN OMORO CONSTITUENCY
First of all I would like to congratulate NRM as a party for fighting together in unity and solidarity as one force to win the election. The support you gave to your candidate covered all his weaknesses and gave a false sense that he was the best:
1. All human resources (RDCs, Ditrict chairperson, NRM Mps, Heads of Government, Speaker, all NRM Secretariat, District ROs, so many police and Army officers, etc), so many that each subcounty was assigned a team of many cadres. M7 himself drummed support fo NRM and repeated many promises he had not done in 40years!
2. The financial expenditure in this by-election could have been 5billion shillings! Money was just raining like hails in the storm!. From preparation of candidates to voting took about 21days but money was distributed 3rounds into the public, the last one happened on 25th May, the eve of voting. Did We see the Prime Minister do it in Odek Subcounty while others committed the same in other areas?
3. Omoro had over 120cars from various state departments and Agencies! (Number plates, UPs, U......Z and U....H, U....B, UPDF and many private cars) some Army and private trucks were ferrying voters from within and other electoral areas. In some polling stations, e.g.. Bolo in Omoro TC, Te-Yaa, Acet Market, Tecwaa, etc, some Army vehicles with covered number plate drove in and removed every body in the voting areas and stuffed the boxes with ballots before going away with true ballot boxes!
With such massive deployment of resources, our people could not do anything, than vote NRM. It is never about the candidate but the party! Allot of Government money was misused in Omoro.
Omoro is now stuck with yet another junk on the corridor. The time Omoro will be delivered, God knows. I personally will continue to support the constituency as an Independent person, especially in economic recovery activities, NOT POLITICALLY.
Thank you, dear readers,
Od**ga Terence
Former Indipendent Candidate.
