SEMLIKI VALLEY 📍

The magnificently scenic Semliki Valley lies at the base of the Albertine Rift to the west of Fort Portal, where it is hemmed in by the Ruwenzori foothills, Lake Albert and Semliki River along the border with the DRC.

The dominant vegetation type is open acacia-combretum woodland and grassy savannah, interspersed with patches of borassus palm forest, significant belts of riparian woodland along the main watercourses, as well as some extensive swamps towards Lake Albert.
.. in the afternoon, we went to the celebrated hotsprings. Emerging from the long grass, we suddenly came on a belt of rich tropical foliage paved with slabs of rock. ⚡️Named after the Nile's 40m plunge over the rift Valley scarp.
⚡️Big game inhabits grasslands north of the river while primates live in the forests to the south.

✨Tailor-Made Safaris

Inspired by our knowledge and first-hand experience of Uganda, we have crafted a series of packages to provide textured and authentic African safaris, and this ongoing Safari is one of them.

Let’s start by exploring the natural beauty of the in Entebbe and then head up north to Murchison Falls Park via the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. 🦏🦏

Ziwa Rhino & Wildlife Ranch was originally started as a cattle farm in 1983. However, in 2002, it was decided to move the cattle to another location to instead develop the area into a rhino sanctuary. At the time, the rhinoceros were extinct in Uganda due to poaching, so the idea of reintroducing rhinos seemed logical to preserve the species and continue conservation. Today, the project has proven so successful that the initial introduction of 6 southern white rhinos has grown to 32. ✨

Presently, Ziwa is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in the wild.

Climate change is making the planet hotter and drier. For pangolins, it’s a case of either adapting or risking extinction. But they face an even greater challenge from wildlife traffickers.
