Lake Mburo National Park
Lake Mburo National Park; the whispers of wonder located in the western region of Uganda. This is one of the finest safari destinations in the country, with a profusion of flora and fauna, a stunning landscape, and lush vegetation. Lake Mburo National Park covers about 370sqkms of land.
The park is one of the smallest and nearest from the capital Kampala city, thus possible to uncover all its diversity in a day, and chillax. It is right next to the highway, connecting to the Albertine region, the Equator, and different national parks in the west and southwest. Just a few kilometers from Kampala city-3-4 hour drive; means you can spend a day or two out with a family, friends, colleagues, or couples; relaxing, having a weekend out, picnics, or family retreat, while engaging in-park activities.
The Vast part of the park is covered by Lake Mburo, woodlands, and open savannah crossed by forest gorges, and patches of papyrus swamp. The park has about 315 bird species, a variety of Antelope species, and a stunning landscape.
Activities at Lake Mburo Incudes;
Game drive
This is a great activity done around the park during the day or night. With the guidance of an expert safari guide, visitors are driven around the park on a safari van, while identifying a variety of mammals, birds, and other park residents. The residents in the park include; Uganda Kobs, Impalas, Cape Buffaloes, warthogs, leopards, African elephants, hartebeest, and the waterbuck to mention but a few. Lions, hyenas, and leopards are reported to be present, but very hard to find. It is also possible to draw near the game while on a horse, or foot.
Boat cruise
This is done at Lake Mburo, using a very secure water vessel boat. The lake has a school of Hippos, and crocodiles, seen yawning, and playing in the water. The beauty of a boat cruise is that for two to 3 hours, you will spend time taking in the cool breeze, spot some mammals quenching their thirst, and taking photos.

KNOW YOUR CATS

Lion (punthera Leo)

The largest African carnivore and the one animal that everybody wants to see on a safari, the lion is the most sociable of the large cats, living in loosely structured prides of typically 5 to 15 animals.

They normally hunt at night and their favored prey consists of Buffalo, large and medium sized antelopes like Uganda kobs. Females are responsible for most hunts.

Rivalry between male lions is intense. Prides may have more than one dominant male working in collaboration to prevent takeover and young males are forced out of their home pride at about 3 years of age.

Lions are not very active during the day; they are most often seen lying in the shade looking the picture of regal indolence.

They occur naturally in most woodland and grassland habitats and are now common in certain parts of Queen Elizabeth, Murchison falls and Kidepo national park.

THE LEOPARD

Punthera pardus

The most common of Africas large felines, the leopard often lives in close proximity to humans, but it is rarely seen because of its secretive, solitary nature.

Leopards hunt using stealth and power often getting to within 5cm of their intended prey before pouncing and they habitually store their kill in a tree to keep it from being poached by other large predators.

They can be distinguished from cheetah by their rosette-shaped spots and more powerful build, as well as by their preference for wooded or rocky habitats. Leopards are found in virtually all habitats that offer adequate cover. They can be seen in most of Ugandan national park and forest reserves such as Queen Elizabeth national park.

CHEETAH (acinonyx jubatus)

Superficially similar to the leopard, the cheetah is the most diurnal of Africas cat species, and it hunts using speed as opposed to stealth.

Cheetahs are the fastest in land mammals capable of running at up to 70km/h in short bursts.

Male cheetahs are strongly territorial and in common they strongly defend their territories on pairs or trios.

Like leopards, cheetahs are heavily spotted and solitary in their habits, but their greyhound like build, distinctive black tear mask and preference for grassland and savannah habitats precludes confusion.

In Uganda, cheetahs are present in Kidepo valley national park

THE TOURISM CITY (TORO KOKASEMERA)
HAVE A CITY TOUR TO FORT PORTAL.
Situated in the northern foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains, 50km north of Kasese and 320km west of Kampala, Fort portal is a likeable enough city, but of greatest interest to tourists for lying at the epicenter of a cluster of highly alluring and reasonably accessible national parks and other tourist attractions. Among these is Kibale national park, it is not only the best place to track chimpanzees in Uganda but also harbors its greatest primate diversity and thrilling variety of forest birds. Other popular destinations include a field of several dozen crater lakes near Kibale forest and more open semuliki national park in the northern Rwenzori foothills.

Fort portal is perhaps the most attractive city in Uganda, offering excellent views across to the glacial peak of the Rwenzori Mountains to the west. The Nyakasura falls and caves give an excellent experience to tourist and hiking Kyeganywa hill is so amazing hence best for photography. The Toro Kings palace is the best palace in Uganda which is situated at karuzika hill.

WARTHOG FACTS
Warthogs are active during the day and sleep in big burrows underground at night. Their name comes from these big warts on their faces, the warts store fats and serves as protection when fighting.

To defend themselves, warthogs use tusks and the most dangerous are the small ones in the bottom jaw with very sharp edges. Every time a warthog eats, they sharpen the smaller tusks against the bigger ones on the top jaw.

Warthogs run with their tails up as a sign of follow me which makes it easier for the ones behind to see where the leader is going.

When warthogs enter their burrows at night, the biggest and oldest enter last. They enter backward so that their face can blocks the barrow entrance and protect themselves.

They like to live in open savannah and in Uganda you find them in many National parks.
