Rolex is a popular Ugandan recipe or street food (snack) that is enjoyed by all people rich or poor. It involves eating a chapatti combined with fried eggs and some tomatoes, onions & cabbage.

Uganda is well known for its tasty dishes from all the cultures and tribes, but none come close in popularity to the Rolex. This is because it is easier to make and can be had at any time by anyone.

The name ‘ROLEX’ is thought to have derived from ‘rolled eggs’ – which is fitting given that the eggs omelet is rolled together inside a chapatti. The Preparation of the Rolex involves rolling the chapatti & eggs together and that’s where its name was derived.

Wallowing simply means roll about or lie relaxed in mud or water.
The Buffaloes wallow because the mud helps buffalo get rid of ticks and parasites that latch onto their skin.

The Kasubi Royal Tombs are a UNESCO World Heritage site built in the 19th century as the burial place for the Kings of the Buganda Kingdom. They are considered one of the most important historical sites in East Africa.

Considered a masterpiece of traditional architecture, the tombs were made of woven mats, thatch and reeds. The Tombs are also a cultural center for the Buganda Kingdom, where traditional rituals, ceremonies, and cultural practices are still performed.

Though severely damaged by fire in 2010, the restoration efforts have been underway to rebuild and preserve The Kasubi Royal Tombs cultural and historical significance.

WE HAVE A NEW BABY! 🦍

Adult female Tomvi of the Mukiza mountain gorilla family in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park gave birth to a healthy baby on Valentines Day (14/2/2023).

Our field teams have for the last few days been trying to get an image of the baby especially with how tightly guarded she’s been by her protective father and mother. This new birth means that there are now 19 individuals in this family.

This little bundle of joy is already showing signs of being an active and curious fella and is a testimony to the many years of successful conservation.

Please leave a congratulatory note 😄 for the family in the comments section below.

The African harrier hawk is a large, brown, swampy bird of prey. Its found in and around flooded areas, swamps and wet grasslands.

The overall dark brown coloration sets it apart from all other harriers, except the female Eurasian Marsh-Harrier.

It can be identified by the presence of barring on the wings and tail, as well as its darker head, usually silent but the male has a high-pitched, two-note display call, and only the female has the far-carrying pseeew-pseeew food and copulation call during breeding. They normally roost solitarily.
