Banyole and Iteso decided to
have a drinking competition.
A week before the competition, the
Iteso sent Frank Okoboi to
Bunyole to confirm if the competition will
be held. On arrival, the people of Bunyole brought
20Ltrs of their strongest brewed beer. Frank Okoboi asked if he could taste and he was permitted to.
Instead of just tasting, he finished the 20Ltrs at once, and said ''This is
ok 😁... Where is the main drink?'' People were all shocked because
nobody had ever taken more than 2Ltrs of this beer and stood breathing!
Then they asked him, 'Are you among the competitors? Frank Okoboi said, 'Me? Nooooo! I didn't qualify...'
Competition was cancelled. 🍺

The Iteso (or people of Teso) are a Nilo Hamites ethnic group in eastern Uganda and western Kenya. Teso refers to the traditional homeland of the Iteso, and Ateso is their language.[1] Iteso is plural (two or more people from Teso), Etesot and Atesot are singular. Etesot is for male person from Teso and Atesot is feminine. Iteso are believed to have migrated from Abyssinia (Ethiopia).

In Uganda, Iteso inhabit the districts of Soroti, Kumi, Katakwi, Amuria, Bukedea, Serere, Ngora, Pallisa, Kaberamaido, Tororo, Kapelebyong and Kalaki. Iteso are very generous and hospitable people. The cultural drink of Iteso is 'ajon' , commonly consumed in local ceremonies and social gatherings. They practice crop and animal farming and attach great value to land.

This is Ateker Heritage ,I know many girls from Ateker might have not participated in this activity, but its a beautiful thing ,before ,during Ateker Traditional marriage , a girl was taken to a boys home for a trying time or Test in activities such as grinding millet ,cooking traditional foods, brewing local bear known as "Ajon" in Ateker language, when she proves her self capable of this ,A day will be arranged for the family of a girl to go to boy's home to see and bargain for cows.
I will continue with this story tomorrow.
