After an exhilarating 10-day journey through the captivating landscapes of Uganda, spanning the vibrant cities and towns of Entebbe, Jinja, Mbale, Kapchorwa, Kumi, Mubende, Fort Portal, Kasese, Kabale, Mbarara, and Kampala, we gathered for a heartfelt farewell dinner on Sunday, February 25th, marking the conclusion of the 2024 Rotaract Uganda Trip.
As the participants bid farewell to Uganda and each other, they reflected on the significance of their journey as the Rotaract Uganda Trip isn't just about exploring new places; it's about making friends, promoting cultural exchange, and being part of impactful service projects. Through their experiences, they have not only enriched their own lives but have also contributed to the betterment of communities across Uganda.
We look forward to welcoming other eligible Rotaractors for the next edition in 2025.

During Days 9 and 10 of the , we explored Mbarara and Kampala as we neared the end of our journey. In Mbarara, we visited the Biharwe Eclipse Monument, erected to commemorate the total eclipse of the sun that occurred on April 17, 1520.
On the way, we stopped by the equator crossing line at Kayabwe as Uganda is one of the 13 countries crosed by the line that divides the earth into the South and Northern hemispheres.
Transitioning to Kampala, we had the opportunity to explore the Lubiri, which serves as the official residence of the King of Buganda. Additionally, we embarked on a tour of the former Idi Amin armory, now transformed into a haunting reminder of its dark past as a torture chamber.
Our final stop was a guided tour of the Makerere University Rotary Peace Center, a significant milestone as it is the only one of the seven peace centers worldwide situated in Africa. This visit held particular significance for our Rotaract visitors, as it allowed us to witness firsthand the vital work being done in Africa to promote peace and conflict resolution. The center's presence in Africa underscores the region's importance in global peace efforts, providing our participants with valuable insights and inspiration for their own contributions to building a more peaceful world.

On Day 7 and 8, we continued the journey south to Katwe Salt Lake, renowned for its high salt concentration and has a rich history of salt mining by local communities.
We then proceeded with a visit to Lake Bunyonyi, the second deepest lake in Africa to see the life on the islands as well as zipline above the lake.
On the day Rotary was celebrating her 119th birthday, we made a stop at Nyakijumba Primary School in Kabale, a school supported by the Rotaract Club of Kampala South where we got to interact with the children and see some of the impact made by Rotaract at the school and in the community.

Day 6 was packed with a visit to Tooro Kingdom' s palace and the residence of King Oyo, who ascended the throne at the age of three, and is the reigning youngest king in the world.
Shortly after, we planted trees and then visited the Interactors at Nyakasura school for some social interactions and motivation.
We closed the activities with a visit to the Amabere Caves for the stalagmites and stalactites as well as a short hike to the scenic Kyeganwa hill.

On Tuesday, we were at Kabalega Falls, the most powerful waterfall in the world. The pressure at these falls is so massive that the ground trembles around it.
It was also also safari day in Murchison Falls National Park.
