Thank you for visiting our page. Ruhondeza lodge was found by UWA ranger guide Gad Kanyangyeyo. Gad has been ranger guide for 22 years in the Bwindi impenetrable national park. The name Ruhondeza means ‘sleepy head’ and refers to the leader silverback gorilla who was leading ‘Mubare’ gorilla family in 1991, up to 2012 when he died. Ruhondeza was the first gorilla that has been seen by tourists in 1993. The people of Bwindi are thankful to Ruhondeza because of opening gorilla tourism in Bwindi national park. Gad chose this name for his lodge to keep the name and the story of Ruhandeza alive.
It is our pleasure to welcome our guests with great hospitality. We prepare fresh and healthy meals, three times a day. At our lodge you can enjoy hot showers, WI-FI, massage and nature trail hiking.
