Had a great Father's Day weekend at the Pinewoodz Inn in the northwoods with my father, Anne Renard and Mark Lambert! The weather was beautiful and perfect on Saturday and the fish were biting! Mark and I found the fish and got dad & Anne on some nice bluegills! We had the live well full with our 100 fish limit in two hours! Then it was time for Margaritas and fish cleaning!! 🙃 Kirk, Faith and Luke joined us for some drinks afterwards. Finished up the day grilling out just in time before the rain came! 🎣🎣🥃🍻😊😉

Had another great weekend in the northwoods! A Big Thank You to Jordy and Dan for helping me take down this potentially dangerous tree before it became a problem!! Jordy and Dan had it down by the time I got up on Friday. A 70+ foot skinny black spruce that was dying from the bug. The tree lean was not in our favor, but Jordy climbed the tree with his spikes and pieced it down with block and tackle all with Dan's guidance. All good with nothing damaged and they salvaged my bird feeder light! Great job!! Then I had the clean up duty... Grilled out at R.m. Griese's Saturday night with great friends during the storm! 😉 😋😊👍🍻

Bobby and I had a great weekend in the northwoods. Cut and split little more campfire firewood until the rain came in then it was cocktail hour. Oh, and my fox was back both nights. I fed him/her a couple of red squirrels. Forest County Sheriff's Department called me this week and said that there was an accident on my property along the highway and I should assess the damage. Over 60 ft of skid marks before the driver slammed into my trees. No serious injuries. Thanks for helping me Bob!! 🍻

So I had this incident coming out of the woods tonight.... I get back to my truck and go to unlock it. And guess what??? You got it, no keys in my pocket!!! 🤔🙄 So I go back into the woods to look for them and now it is pitch black out!! 😯😲 I looked and looked for my keys until my flashlights were almost dead.... No keys.... 😡🤬 Luckily I had a spare set in my back pack! 😉 I finally get back to the cabin and I am taking my boots and hunting clothes off and low and behold, I feel my keys near the bottom of my hunting bibs! But they are between the outside and inside layer. I ended up having a small hole inside my pocket and my keys went through it and they ended up at the bottom of my hunting bibs!! Wow!! How lucky to have found them!! 😊🍻😉

We're all guilty of it. We see a hunter with mismatched camo with an old single-shot 12-gauge. And he's sporting his deer he just harvested on the back of his old truck. It's a doe or more than likely a smaller buck. But he's happy, and grinning from ear-to-ear like he just killed the new world record! So you laugh and joke with your buddies as he goes by. While leaning against your brand new truck, in your name brand matching camo.

But have you ever stopped to think that maybe the deer on the back of his truck means a lot more to him than just big antlers.... maybe he's a third shift blue collar worker at the local saw mill, just trying to pay his bills and keep gas in his old truck. Maybe he don't have the fancy game cameras and big food plots that you have. Or the big fancy hunting blinds, that cost more than his old truck. Maybe he's happy because he finally didn't have to work this weekend. So he decided to go hunting on the little piece of land that he's hunted since he was a boy, with the gun that his dad gave him when he turned 12 years old. More than likely he's not hunting to kill the next World Record. He could care less about the antlers.

But what he does care about is putting food on the table for his family at home, and knowing that they're going to eat good for now. And that my friends will put a smile on any true sportsman's face.

So good luck to all the hunters out there with the rest of your season. Just remember this, support each other and be happy for each other, no matter how big their harvest is, because to some folks it means a lot more then the size of the antlers.
